Biting the bullet

I’ve used the OG Pac seat for a couple of years now after watching @Nutterbuster’s YouTube channel about it. It’s a great investment. I use it for everything. It works great in a Turkey blind too for archery hunting gobblers.

Anyone using this chair from three rivers Native comfort 360 any reviews? Thanks Screenshot_20220629-212740_Chrome.jpg

So the saddle thing is cool and I can see a place for it in my life. However even as a young adventurous buck that likes to climb my most enjoyable hunts have been on the ground in my tree seat. I’ve been looking at one of these for years and finally bit the bullet. Wait list is mid may but I’m hoping this is gonna be as good as I think it will. Finally ordered Waldrop pac seat and might be doing a lot of ground hunting. Big bullet but buy once fry once right? After all I did drop a small fortune on saddle hunting.
Why don't you get a climber instead?

I've lusted after the pac-seat for a few years now, but I really got no need for the "pack-(out)" part of it. I'm thinking one of these Cliq chairs is in my near future:

It may have already been posted on here, but for anyone that hasn’t gotten one yet, I saw that there’s 10% off on the Waldrop site.

My. Very nice. Wonder if shooting trad out of it would be hard.
.in my experience shooting trad from a seat isn't bad but I do find I have to be leaning forward which does lend to a little extra movement when the time comes. If hunting from the ground I prefer to take the shot off my knees for stability.

I like shooting trad from a chair. Just asking about this one specifically. Seems like you would sit pretty far back in that one.

I had a pretty comfortable chair from Cabellas, but it recently lost a unique connector and is basically useless at this point. While it was comfortable, it was kind of heavy and cumbersome at 6 lbs. I've been looking at chairs like the cliq and others, but being 6'3" and 310 lbs, based on reviews some of those are a no go.

The Waldrop looks amazing, but that price is steep. Has anyone had any experience with the Helinox Sunset chair? its slightly taller than the other Helinox chair and has a 320lb limit. And its cheaper than the waldrop. And it packs smaller.

Santa brought me one of those last year and it is sweet.

I used the onetigtis in the blind last year. Worked good but loud assembly. The btr 3 leg stool is new, and I haven't tested it completely yet. In the back yard, if you don't extend the legs and open it up, you can shoot kneeling. If the legs sink in you can also shoot kneeling. I will have to take some pictures and update.

I see a lot of people posting about some of these ultralight, folding, small packing chairs. I think they are great for a lot of things, but not hunting. I have an ultralight chair that takes up very little room and I will throw it on my bike for biking trips and keep in my vehicle all the time. However it doesn't cut it for hunting. It is loud to set up (shock cord inside of aluminum tubes) and when it is set up, it will sink into the ground unevenly on hunting grounds. It also does not nest up close to trees well because almost all trees have the roots slanting away from the tree. If I were to end up setting it next to a tree it would be a good foot or two away in order to find ground I could get all 4 legs even on the ground (and then it would most likely sink into the ground).

Now with the Waldrop pacseat these problems don't exist. It is quiet to set up, doesn't sink into the ground, nests up tight to all trees and is just plain awesome. It also can be set up easily where there are no trees. It is the best money I have ever spent on a piece of hunting gear (including saddles).

Anyway, that is my opinion about a pacseat vs those ultralight folding chairs.

Great points, and I've had to deal with that problem in the past too. I was hoping to find something that packs small and light enough to just put in my current pack. That way, if I find a good spot that doesn't have any trees to either climb or use my saddle on the ground, I'd have an option that doesn't include sitting uncomfortably on a log, rock, or the ground.

I guess I could use the Waldrop to carry everything and leave it at the bottom of the tree if I do climb.

Would you say that it's possible to open and set up your ultra light chair with minimal noise if you really tried?

Valid points. No idea what the pacseat weights but I bet is way over a pound. If I am doing a backpack hunt for 4-5 days the little ultralight chair shines. Ounces make pounds and pounds make pain. The other consideration is weapon choice. With a trad bow or a gun, you have more flexibility in shooting positions than with a compound. All about choosing the right tool for the job.
