Black hunter longbow

Interesting. I’ve shot a bunch of vintage bears and the experience has varied. I was in Golden CO and went directly to RMS store and used their range. Spent the day shooting vintage bears and settled on a 71 tigercat which was simply the best of the bunch. I think I paid 200 out the door. I like the new bears also.

Years ago I got to shoot an original 59 Kodiak. That was a truly awesome bow to shoot. That was on my list of “gotta have” bows and they started making them again and I lost interest. Before they started making them again you couldn’t touch a beater for $700. Now the originals are going in the $400-$500 range but guys are hanging on to them. Bear makes some fine bows. It’s hard to beat a Grizzly. Just a good all around killin machine.

I bought the recurve version just to try.
I have super curves I shoot but for the money I was curious.
It shot great. Just slower than I'm used to.
I took it to my club and the first friend that shoot it bought it on the spot after a few shots.
Then, a mutual friend ask to shoot it and she begged the first guy to let her buy it. He did and he shot that bow better than his rer longbow he shoots on a regular basis.

Are the black hunters on Amazon different than those sold by Lancaster?

The risers and limbs are interchangeable. I bought my original bow off of Amazon and then bought two more sets of limbs from Lancaster. I actually like the Amazon longbow limbs slightly better as they have more reflex. It’s definitely safer to buy from Lancaster if you have any issues. They have good customer service.

i would rather have a well set up cheap and ugly bow, with good matching arrows that shoot where I look, than the most high dollar, beautiful bow that is not set up and misses... with that said, part of the allure is to find one that does both. a bow that is a piece of artwork, that actually shoots as well... it is inspiring to shoot more.
