Blood trailing lights

So in other words the company built them specifically to have a "good" cr # and they would mention it in the description of the light? Husky, cyclops, Energizer doesn't mention anything about a CR# as far as I know so they probably low?
Google "High CRI LED Flashlight". Those LED's are made mainly for photography. You don't want pictures with washed out colors.

Edited to change "CR" to "CRI"

No offense intended, I can't find one reference to " high CR led flashlight" anywhere. Anybody seeing anything?

I am not sure if this is what you are discussing, but Peak offers high CRI option.
I have one of their lights and the quality is very good.

Hard to tell--they claim high CRI, but don't list a number. I believe that around 80 is considered high CRI, but there is a world of difference between 80 and 90 when compared side-by-side. Look for a CRI of 90 or higher, the higher the better.

30 bucks for a traditional style headlamp that I'm more used to.....is it a POS?

the little tiny 1s with crazy batteries I've never heard of sure are expensive...are they really worth the extra dough? Im not sure I need 15millon lumens for 20second run time

Bump....

Wow there's a lot to digest trying to learn about the fancy lights. I'm debating continue using my current headlamp just like always and buy a hand held fancy cri for blood trailing....I carry a small hand held currently as an emergency back up so I could swap those out and nothing in my "system" would really change...

That's what I do. I use a "normal" headlamp and keep a high CRI flashlight in my kill kit.

As soon as I find a make/model to research I spend half an hour reading about it just to find out it's discontinued....w t f.. light models only last a year or 2?

LED's evolve rapidly, new stuff comes out all the time--the old is forgotten.

I feel your pain @Weldabeast I work in the electronics industry Fire, Burgler, Cameras, Access control as soon as I figure out how to program something they introduce a new product and I'm getting too dam old to keep up. You will have to decide what battery systems with chargers you want first. Me personally stick with AA and 18650 as much as I can just to keep everything I run consistent. I run a Nitecore D4 or D2 Smart charger it can handle multiple style batteries.

I use a 2cell C batteries mag light most of the time to track Plenty of light and it rides in my pack all the time If a track gets very involved a keep a Kelly coonhunting belt light in my truck

My boss gave me one a few years back. It works great for tracking at night. It’s also great to take on vacation and look at the messes in hotel rooms. Lol. I can’t remember the brand.

Last night I took my 3 AAA battery headlamp, a 4 AA maglite style light, and a 4AAA spotlight.and looked at my pigs blood trail . Non of them high cri.....the AA maglite style was the brightest light but the AAA spotlight showed blood "best"

Next blood trail there should be a high cri light to compare against

Ok....here is 400lumem headlamp vs 100lumem 90cri light. It's a little 2 AAA battery penlight and the headlamp uses 3 AAA

@10essee

The bloodtrail was a standing 1. The lower lumen cri light is much much better. I'm not sure if the camera will show but I took some pics to compare.

Here is headlamp on high

It did definitely make the blood stand out. Not bad for a little 25$ light. It’s a Coast HP4 penlight if anyone interested in a cheap high cri light. Not super bright but just enough to get the job done.
