Boots

I ran Danner recurved all last season. Uninsulated. When it got cold I added toe warmers or electric socks. I can’t speak highly enough of these boots. I love them. Of course when I needed knee high rubber boots Lacrosse Alpha Burley can’t be beat.

My Crispi's run true, although I wish I would've gone up a half size for an extra pair of socks for late season.

Thanks. Crispi is one of very few companies that carry 12.5 which would be a half size big for me. Never had the option to go up a half size for thicker socks. Honestly it just complicates my decision to order.

I have used a pair of Danner Alsea's for 2 seasons now & they are great. Very comfortable & don't make my feet sweat, I have the uninsulated version. If it gets too cold for those I wear my alphaburly's but I can wear the Alsea's down to 30 or so. May eventually get an insulated pair but they are kind of expensive for something I'd only wear a couple times a year.

I’m in this same boat. Feeling like Crispi Thor GTX is my boot, but man. $300+? Not sure if I can pull that trigger. Anyone have experience with these? Good hiking boot? Durable? Any regrets if you did buy?

I have them and they are by far the best boot I have worn. Super comfortable, didn’t require a break in period for me even for long hikes. Awesome boot, wear it with a gator from first lite

Lowa Renegade GTX are hard to beat.

If you’re looking for extreme cushion then check out the Hoka Stinson GTX. It’s essentially their most cushioned trail running shoe but in boot form. I’ve used the regular Hoka Stinson pretty extensively on trail runs and it’s a great shoe. So far the GTX has been great as well. Insanely Cushioned, waterproof, and good ankle support

Renegade's are my every day boot.

I found a pair in my size for $140 on CampSaver, so I ordered them and will have them sometime this week. Excited to try them out!
That's a find for sure. I lucked into mine. Found a pair in a podunk little shop in CO that was running a clearance sale on boots and got them for cheap cheap.

I might have to give them a try, since I can at least return them to an REI unlike anything Crispi

Edit: Man the reviews on durability are pretty hard on REI..

Nothing wrong with tennis shoes for early season hunts if you're 110% certain that you don't need to cross water

Both the shoe and boot have held up for me really well. I’ve got over 100 miles on the shoe with no issues, boot has less but still good so far. Maybe I’m just not tough enough on them.

Lowa tibet GTX hands down the best boot I have ever owned and I have spent big $$$ on boots over the years.

I wear a size 16 so it is tuff trying to find a good boot. Anybody have the same problems as me? And if ya do what boot ya got

Crispi thor gtx are my favorite pair of boots I own. Super light and comfortable. Watch black ovis and camofire you can get them on sale for a pretty good discount if you are patient.

I liked the looks of those, but how stiff are they? I usually like by boots slightly stiffer than tennis shoes, and these seemed very stiff.

The soles are quite stiff (great for ring of steps and climbing amsteel aiders.)
The ankle i don’t find stiff, and like mentioned before very light

They are pretty stiff, but once you get used to them they are great. I walked 10-12 miles in a day multiple times in Nebraska this year and last. Feet felt fine. Could of never did that in my old boots. They are a moderate to warm weather boot though. Wouldn't recommend them for colder weather sitting without boot blankets. They breathe really good dry pretty quick when you get them wet.
