Bow holder what cha using?

Big John...awesome now hanger...I've got some 3/4 marine ABS that I could use to make one thanks for sharing
 
There is no reason to have a bow holder that holds your bow away from the tree as it will only get in the way and the proper way is to have at least 2 holders, one 90 degrees to your right and another on the opposite side of the tree. When you want to move around the tree to your left to shoot to the backside, lift your bow off the holder to your right and reach around and put it on the holder on the backside. Then move around the tree with both hands free and once in position, you grab your bow when you need it as it will be right there at hands height. The cheap $1 bow holders sold at every SG store work just fine and I suggest buying a Cranford bow and gun holder (about $4) to make the hole first before screwing in the cheap $1 holders as they bend very easily on hard trees and they are hard to start. Cranfords have hard steel and start easily and will not bend.

Dang....i copied your idea without even knowing it. They do say great minds think alike. If you move your hole higher and cut out a belly in the center of the vertical area and make the heel kinda pointy it won't pull off the tree
 
I sewed up a strap like G2 Outdoors has. I retired some ratchet straps and used that. I then sewed it up with some ice fishing line that came off a real when it had to replaced. I'll also be using that foldable clip, hero clip?, this fall. I hunt public and can't screw into the tree. Here's the website: www.myheroclip.com

The U slide I got is terrible and will NOT tap into a tree. I ordered 3 Hawk tactical hooks. So are you saying if Im facing the tree I should have a holder to my right and left? Im having a hard time visioning the movements your talking about. Its my first year in the saddle coming up. Ive been a lurker here for a long time though and read your books.
 
I got one of the accessory straps from bass pro for like $6. There really isn’t a good hook there for a bow. I’m looking at putting one of the tool belt hooks for cordless drill on that strap. I think it will work well.
 
I use an ameristep strap on step. Legal on public land and is the perfect size. Easily rotated around the tree if needed.

That’s a good idea, there’s a monster hook made by McGuire Nicholas. I’m thinking of the hook on a ameristap like someone mentioned. I bought the hero clip but seems like it wouldn’t sit flat or square on the tree. The monster hook has a square back to it. I’m going to try this today and see how it works.

Same here. I ordered it brand new last August and couldn't get it to set into a single tree. Hunting season started in Sept so I forgot all about it till I saw this post. Just called and spoke w/ Peter and he is shipping me a replacement.
