Looking at finally upgrading the Bear Encounter. Had a friend suggest Bowtech. I initially looked at Mathews because that’s the shiny new thing, but the Bowtech Deadlock cam really has my interest. Do any of you have experience with the current models? Just based on reviews I have narrowed it down to maybe the Revolt and Solution SS. My current bow is the only one I’ve ever shot, but would like to shoot everything I can get my hands on. So do the Saddlehunter thing and bombard me with information and I’ll take the advice I want. Thanks in advance.

Shot the Solution with many of the other flagship bows this year. It has a pleasant draw cycle and I could have hunted with it. I only shot it in comfort mode. The ease of tuning definitely put it on my radar this year. I ended up going with a different bow but mostly because my local bowtech dealer offers extremely poor service.

Solution is a nice bow. I would definitely suggest it over the revolt and either bow over the Mathews. Way nicer to draw and hold.

Picked up a Reign 6 off the classifieds early this year. I don't see my self changing it for a while. If the new ones are slightly better. Dang. No complaints here. Never owned a Mathews or Hoyt. Sure they are just as nice. I think you are just getting down to spliting hairs. I still lobby for shoot em with a blind fold. What feels best and what you can shoot strait.

I shot the Revolt X, Revolt, and Solution SS quite a bit before ordering a Revolt. I still question whether I should have gotten the Solution SS.

Here's my take:

All these bows were on comfort setting.

The Revolt X was the fastest and had the best string angle. Overall it was my favorite to shoot. However, I have a weird anchor point and that with heavy clothes in the winter made me want a longer brace height.

The Revolt and Solution SS are very similar. The Solution SS is a touch slower and also has a touch shorter brace height, compared to the Revolt. I ordered the Revolt based upon that (win -win). However, the Solution SS is 0.4 lbs lighter. Also, the SS has significantly larger cams. This will make the string angle slightly better (the bigger cams are like adding around 1.3 inches of axle to axle length over the Revolt). Whether or not the string angle will make a difference probably depends upon your draw length and shooting style and whether you are stickler for getting your nose on the string.

I have a 30" draw length, and the Revolt is short for me. I got around that by serving the string below the peep and putting a large kisser button there. I now touch my nose to the large kisser button.

I still go back and forth with whether I made the right decision. It was a pick your poison among similar poisons situation.

The Solution SS is slightly smoother than either the Revolt or X, but all of those bows are ridiculously smooth (on comfort mode) so I didn't even worry about that. From what I've read, the Revolt is harder to let down smoothly. It is a hard bow to let down because the letoff is so high and valley so large. I feel like I could hold that bow back for 5 minutes, and my bow arm would get tired of holding the mass weight of the bow before my draw arm would get tired holding it back.

This is very useful thank you.

I have been a lurker on this site and haven't posted until now.

This is my advice. I have owned several different bows some from Bowtech (Prodigy and Carbon Zion). If I were you, I would find a reputable shop and a good technician at that shop. Let them know your plan, and shoot the makes and models in you price range. All of the top line bows from different manufacturers are awesome and are similar in price. Buy the one that feels and fits the best for you.

Ive owned and operated several different brands over the years, currently shooting a realm ss which is what the solution ss is based off of. Love my realm ss which I shoot on comfort. While it doesn’t have the deadlock system it’s pretty easy to tune and isn’t too heavy. I like the clutch grip which works for me since I shoot low grip and the clutch is fairly flat. Having said all that I’d find a shop and shoot. Yes I know that’s annoying and many shops are in a hurry to get you in and out, ESPECIALLY right now since season opens very soon; actually you picked about the worst time to find a new setup. My advice would be to shoot that encounter one more season and then start shopping, you’ll prolly get more face time and less hurry. Then start shooting. My buddy shoots a realm ss also and loves it, my best friend hates my realm and shoots pse. Another guy I know shoots elite. There’s so many factors at play.
But to answer your original question the Solution SS is a fine shooting bow if you’re looking for an easy shooting bow. If you want speed go with the revolt

I also realize the new bows for next year will be coming out in what 3 months, so it may be a good idea to wait...

Yup. You’re coming from an older bow and completely different manufacturer. Excellent idea to wait, new tech to explore or you might find this years bow that a shop is willing to unload at a discount.

Definitely wait. Bows are as bad as computers and cell phones with obsolescence and clearance sales at the end of a cycle. I bought a Synergy back when that was one of the hot Elite bows qnd 8 had to have it and 6 months later we were clearancing them at a 40% discount.

I am currently shooting a Revolt X and love it. I have been a Bowtech fan since 2010. Had a few other bows during that time (Mathews, Hoyt, Elite), but seem to always go back to Bowtech. I like that they balance really well in hand without even attaching stabilizers. Great draw cycle and smooth shooting IMO.

Somewhat relevant...
I picked up a Bowtech Realm early last year after shooting only Mathews since '05 and can honestly say I was impressed with how quick and easy it was to tune and it's a pleasure to shoot.
I would think you'll love either one you choose.

Ok, Bowtech guys. Any of yins have any info on the Solution SD ?
I'm 27" draw length and have been trying to research this bow and have only found here/say...
Something real world would be nice!

I haven't shot it, but general consensus seems to be that Bowtechs often start to lose performance below a 29" draw. The SD was designed to solve this. I'd shoot one if I was at 27".

Lusk archery, I believe, compared them and he has a shorter draw. The SD was faster than than the SS and the Revolt at his draw. You can probably find it on youtube.

I'm a Mathews shooter because it's what I'm used to and I like my Triax. But, in my opinion, all the major manufacturers are making great products and the differences between them are personal preference. My DL is 28 so I would look hard at the SD if I were shopping for a new bow.

My Triax needed almost no tuning at all, I set the rest at 13/16 and adjusted the rest height just a little and it shoots bullet holes with bare shafts at 20 yards. So, for me, an easier tuning system would not have added any value. Other folks may have different experiences.
