I’m am looking for a new head. Shot magnus stringers last year and loved them but this year I want a single bevel. I’m willing to pay the price for top of the line but it seems there always out of stock. I like too looks of the iron will sb

Kudupoints, huge fan after shooting 4 deer with them last yea and had great results each time. Tough too, severed two humorous bones with no edge chatter or damage.

I shot helix this past year with 2 complete pass throughs. Didn’t hit any major bones but they seem durable enough to handle it. I did get a pass through and hit (and dented) a feeder leg with one and not even a scratch on the blade.

Do you free hand sharpen these with a hand tool? That's the main thing that keeps me from them. I stink at sharpening anything by hand without a guide tool of some sort.

Yeah, it wasn’t as hard as I thought. I use a diamond rod to it first then hit it with a ceramic rod. I have a work sharp sharpener that has a thin strip on the one side that I finish it up with. I can get them back to shaving sharp in about 5 minutes. I was surprised how big the cuts on critters are compared to the blade width, I think the curve is the cause.

Is the work sharp electric?

No, it’s just a little hand held guy, has two sides with different diamond stones and the other edges have a ceramic rod on one side and a strop on the other. Awesome little sharpener. I think it’s called the guide sharpener.

Check out VPA. I have them and some tuff heads as well which are the cool guy ones to have currently. They are both very similar.

+1 for the Iron Wills (125gr solids), though not the single bevel you mentioned. Started toying with some 125gr Cutthroats at the end of last season, but can't tell you any positives other than the head will pass through my targets! Last 3 deer I have shot have all died within 30yds... love it when they don't know they are poked, walk away, and tip over... used to shoot the flappers and while they work, don't have them bounding off to the next county like they were smacked on the a$%... much easier to track deer when you can see them tip from your saddle. As for sharpening, I have a Stay Sharp jig that works well, a DMT diafold I keep in my bag should I need to sharpen broadhead/blades for any reason in the field, and a double sided waterstone at home for sharpening by hand. Takes some practice, but once you have the bevel angles figured out, not too bad.

200g Grizzlystik Samurais flew really nice for me out of my bow. And, their heads generally come pretty sharp, so if you are like me and not into all that stuff you've got a proven killer right out of the box. Good customer service too, if you called them they'd be happy to talk to you and make recommendations, I'm sure.

200 grain VPA’s worked/work well for me. I have Sirius Apollo 250’s with Ethics 100g inserts. Total is around 660g with everything else from Seth at Sirius Archery. 245 FPS avg at 60lb and 30.5in DL. I use the 250 insert on my EZV and the arrows are accurate at every distance on that insert for that weight if it saves anyone time.

I have had great success with the Grizzlystik Samurai's when I was shooting only 50lbs. I switched to Iron Will solid 125gr last season when I bumped up to 60lb with amazing success and accuracy. I recently acquired the Iron Will SB 125gr with the bleeders for this upcoming season.

I shot the Strickland helix 150 grain this year and really liked them. Shot 2 pigs and one deer with them this year all pass through but one. The that didn’t pass thru was a high shoulder spine shot on a 200lb pig but buried the arrow 5-6 inches from the fletching. Only complaint I have is how hard the steel is and just struggle with getting them really razor sharp. Without their sharpener im not sure how I would sharpen these heads. But in my opinion they are a very good price point head to test single bevel broadhead.

200gn right bevel
I like 200gr Samurai from Grizzlystik. It's a 3:1 ratio single bevel, straight edge head. Ashby has proven that 3:1 straight edge heads take less force to penetrate.

They come pretty sharp, but with a few minutes on my KME I can get them crazy sharp.

Samurai come in 2 different grades...the black lable (slightly higher Rockwell hardness) and the Overkill (red colored). Decent heads and roughly $10 less per head ($60 per 3) than the black lable (around $90 per 3 heads).

I’ve shot Magnus stingers exclusively since I started bow hunting 5 or 6 years ago. Honestly, they fly great and you can’t beat the warranty. I’d stick with them if you’ve had no issues. Why pay a premium price for something else when you can smash deer or the dirt with these, mail them back and get it replaced?
