Bullman Pioneer steps

I posted the video as I ran across it in You Tube…. I like the idea on the surface. I am still processing to see if it’s a viable option. I am worried about the loose step while on the tree. I have been told the step area is just shy of 3” and I’m not sure if I would want more surface area on the step. The weight and size/packability is definitely attractive.

I may order to try out before I go all in……

Steps are way different than sticks as far as step length because of how you put them at like 4 or 5 o'clock on the right and 7 or 8 o'clock on the left and also put the step in the arch of your foot and lean back into lineman's belt. Maybe buy 1 or 2 to see, but I doubt you'll have any trouble unless you have specific foot or health concerns.

If I went to these steps, then I would incorporate this method below in order for them to be very tight on the tree.

If I was super worried about a company taking my idea, then I wouldn't be putting it out on public internet forums.

You should look at all the patents Tethrd has filed. It looks like @BassBoysLLP looks through the DIY section all day for stuff to file a patent on…:smilingimp:

Here's where I would take his idea. Attach an aluminum triglide between end loop of the daisy chain and step. You then would have to anchor the step to the daisy chain so it can't slide around sideways (doesn't seem like he is doing that but rather relying on stepping straight down and being really careful about that). I would then use the end loop of amsteel to do my trucker's hitch, but when I come back toward the step, I would wrap around the triglide instead of wrapping around the step (to secure amsteel).

The trucker's hitch takes longer but pulls steps/sticks so tight that once someone tries it, I think they'd be hooked. You can put side pressure and they don't move hardly at all on the tree.

I am concerned that the internal slot that interacts with amsteel might be sharp. I would get a dremel and a lil' sanding drum and chamfer that really well until very smooth anywhere metal will touch amsteel.

Raisins

I think you are on to something. I ordered some Treehopper steps, added a daisy chain and triglide.
(The AA triglide only add .315 oz. to each step).
Tried it on a tree and it works great.
6 steps and I can get to 15 feet with dual Swader's.

Truckers hitch?

Or people could just stop sharing their ideas and the people with money won’t have a product to create. I mean certain companies have made saddle hunting huge without having a single original idea. I personally see no issue with commercializing someone else’s ideas as long as you aren’t rushing to the patent office pretending you invented that process. By comparison I also have no issue with the people who create, share and teach new systems, products or techniques saying they would like a little love for sharing their ideas. Companies need people for markets and ideas, and people with no money need the companies so that those products are available to those of us who don’t have the skill to make them ourselves… it’s a 2 way street and your way of looking at it is entitled as well because you have to have money to invest spend or chance it to make more money. Let’s all play nice and be entitled together
The entitlement of some people on this site is ridiculous! If you want credit for something then start your own company with your own money and put your neck out there.

Nah…I’ll keep calling out the entitlement and praise the people who took chances to bring back this great style of hunting.

So you don’t think people deserve a kick back if there invention was robbed by someone who has the ability to bring it to market? That’s theft in my red neck world wether there is law or not to prevent...i won’t post my original diy stuff because of it.

I agree that if your friend did that to you that you would be right to be upset (you share an idea over a beer, next month he brings it to market without including you at all). But I think the expectation among folks that you don't know in real life is "every man for himself". Not saying it is right, it's just the way it is.

I agree 100% that it becomes every man for himself, but singing praises for the wealthy and calling the “average joe diy inventor” entitled for just asking for a little credit is back a$$wards to me. I know I wouldn’t have a problem giving someone credit for showing me how to do something or giving me the ideas to make something happen.
