Bullman Pioneer steps

May have to get a ROS... are they USA manufactured?

He's been reading this forum it seems.

He gave me an idea for my daisy chain/trucker's hitch attachment for my treehopper steps. I could use the buckle as the spot for final termination wrap. I'd never hang with just the daisy chain (no trucker's hitch) because the steps would be too loose for me. Steps don't cam sharp teeth into the tree as they slide, like sticks do.

The entitlement of some people on this site is ridiculous! If you want credit for something then start your own company with your own money and put your neck out there.

The intuitions you're guided by, and the self importance is ridiculous!

I don't want credit. I don't deserve credit. I didn't do anything. I was simply giving the smart folks around here who kept advancing the ball on single step climbing methods and attachments the attention they deserve. I'm happy for the fella who owns that company, and decided to stick a slider on the end of that daisy chain. It might make me use something like that.

People getting their feelings hurt because their ideas are adopted after existing in the public space seems silly to me. People thinking they're scoring status points dunking on people they think are in that category double the silliness.

Relax man. I was just patting some smart folks on the back so they keep being smart, and giving us good stuff...

Nice retraction. Thanks!

Here's where I would take his idea. Attach an aluminum triglide between end loop of the daisy chain and step. You then would have to anchor the step to the daisy chain so it can't slide around sideways (doesn't seem like he is doing that but rather relying on stepping straight down and being really careful about that). I would then use the end loop of amsteel to do my trucker's hitch, but when I come back toward the step, I would wrap around the triglide instead of wrapping around the step (to secure amsteel).

The trucker's hitch takes longer but pulls steps/sticks so tight that once someone tries it, I think they'd be hooked. You can put side pressure and they don't move hardly at all on the tree.

I am concerned that the internal slot that interacts with amsteel might be sharp. I would get a dremel and a lil' sanding drum and chamfer that really well until very smooth anywhere metal will touch amsteel.

So...is this dudes products made in USA? That’s a fair price for a ROS

Man I thought I was done with climbing methods lol, these look like they would make a very nice run and gun set up.

If I'm doing my math right, I could get to 24' with these and my whole set up (attachment, steps, 2 sacks to hold them on sides) would weigh 3 pounds. My current steps (treehoppers) are 4.9 ounces per step. These supposedly are around 3 ounces, which adds up if you are using 12 steps.

I love the step method using daisy chain trucker hitch method. The downside is that it is slow. His traditional daisy chain method shown on the video would work if you are very careful about stepping straight down, but I'm just not a fan. The Cranford strap on steps were a little loose also and they do not handle accidental side pressure well.

I posted the video as I ran across it in You Tube…. I like the idea on the surface. I am still processing to see if it’s a viable option. I am worried about the loose step while on the tree. I have been told the step area is just shy of 3” and I’m not sure if I would want more surface area on the step. The weight and size/packability is definitely attractive.

I may order to try out before I go all in……
