Buying scentlok

Ontario, my friend I’m going to have to disagree with you this time.
I cannot imagine anyone still says Scent loc don’t work. To what degree it works can be a topic of discussion. Any reduction is a reduction.
I also think that anyone that doesn’t know where the wind is going or how it is going to affect your hunt won’t be very successful. (Unless you are on Johns level of scent control)

If you are not detailed oriented it will not work. If you are it will work.

I took John and Dan's great debate as. Since I am not as good of a hunter as Dan or John, I need all the help I can get.
So I plan on getting back into the Scentlok ways (Johns Method) and attempt to hunt close to buck bedding with the right off wind (Dans Method)

What I do too. I have to wear something so it might as well be scent lok at least as a base layer.

I think it makes a big difference, based on my single season experience lol. I started out without any scentlok had a good opening day and managed to screw it up lol. The next 15-20 hunts produced exactly 0 shot opportunities. After starting scentlok with a moderate scent control program I was seeing deer on almost every hunt. I also wasn't playing the wind all that much, it gets difficult at some of my locations with restricted access.

Anyway I'm gonna keep doing the scentlok thing because it worked for me, I'm sure there's more to it but without going nuts there it is.

I know John says basically it does not take much error in his method to reduce the effectiveness of scent lok That is why thoroughness is imperative

It’s definitely a confidence booster!

I'm confident it works. I'm also confident that I don't think I can be as effective as need to be to get packs and everything clean the way I need to. Also if its very cold I'm not a fan of dressing at the truck. But, call me lazy I guess, with the apps we have and learning the wind we can do well. Its funny, watch the guys on YouTube using ozonics, the still use the wind to their advantage. Heck, Fred Bear never had scent look or ozonics. Using milkweed to check the wind and the apps to predict wind direction is the best way I've seen come along for me. Scentlok and ozonics both work if you are diligent about CLEAN. I asked the question about scentlok to find out if it makes a difference for anyone just using it and not going to the nth degree otherwise. ....just being careful not to contaminate the suit at home or motel.

Ozonics is great........but too pricey for many. Especially if you get all the gear and extra battery. I know most people dump a 800 to a grand on a bow but I don't. This is my thoughts, ozonics works but I can kill deer without it but a good warm outfit is more important or a good bow....I can't kill a deer without the bow with me. LOL

I have a complete suit of Scent Lok from head to toe, literally. I have no doubt it reduces my scent foot print. Having said that, I have been busted while wearing it more than once and under the conditions I’m really confident I was winded. The other thing I have no doubt about is there is no way any suit, unless it’s completely air tight is going to conceal all of your scent. I believe a huge amount of the scent we give off comes from our breath. You are simply not going to conceal that.

Dan says scent lok does not work and John says it works that settles it.
I like to listen to both of them but hunters will always disagree about something. I wear it just in case it works and try to do a good job to make sure it works.

I think the key is taking care of the items you normally never think of, like bow, backpack, binos, breath, boots....touching things at the tree...

Big believer in scent lok but early season in NC is brutal - 85 last few years on opening weekend. You are soaked before you climb. And then have to put the jacket and head over on . I like to het higher in early season because of that. I did manage to score an Ozonics when Gander Mountain went out of business- got it 60% off. And it’s legit.

I'm sure it is legit! Pricey normally for average guys and........another item to figure out how carry in and out of the woods. LOL

The ozonics or the scentlok is pricey? Ozonics you’re way over paying for what they are selling. Ozone works, but ozone generators can be bought for a fraction of the price that ozonics sells them for.

If scentlok I just don’t understand the argument that it’s too expensive. Sure it’s not Walmart cheap but it’s competitively priced to other big named hunting apparel brands ie: Sitka, first lite, under armour, etc.

Especially if you catch them doing a clearance on their own web site. I got two outfits head to toe for about 200 this year.

Still need gloves but only held off to find a pair and test fit first. Otherwise their $40 gloves have been 19 on sale.

I'm just saying that 400 for ozonics to me is a little more than I want to put out for the cheaper one with extra battery. Everyone has a comfort level of their own choice. Yes it is a great product, and glad it's on the market. One day most people will probably use one. Ozone generators are less expensive and WORK! Scentlok works too but if you aren't as diligent on everything you do, a person can still get winded. I may one day use it also. I think alot of the new products today are great but we don't need them all to be successful hunters. If you are enjoying the hunt and chasing whitetail, that's what it's all about. I don't want to much complication in my hunting and sometimes I think as minimum amount with me in the tree the better. I've been guilty of carrying to much stuff. LOL. As the old saying says, "To each his own" May we all enjoy our time in the woods.

Yes I believe they both work great. Scentlok works but one has to be diligent with all your gear or you can get winded. Ozonics is more than I personally want to spend on it right now. Both of these used in tandem are probably fantastic. I'm just saying some people don't want to put that much money into it. Their are great products on the market and most work great but we don't have acquire all of them for success. Yes they can help but I know a guy that has several booners on the wall.....none with scentlok or ozonics. He said he thinks ozonics works but so far even he has not purchased one. Let's enjoy our time in the woods and hunting with good woodsmanship. That's why we started, right? This is the best hunting time for me at 55. Use all of the things that helps you hunt and enjoy the chase of wonderful whitetail!
