Anybody doing this? I have an older pair of Carhart bibs That are darn near wind proof, not noisy, have extra pockets, and very comfortable. They are solid brown and I’d like to put a little camo pattern on them. Doesn’t need to be anything fancy just something to break up my silhouette

I have no problem wearing solid-colored pants hunting--never felt disadvantaged by that. Probably your best bet would be to pick up a pair of leafy suit pants to go right over the top of them. You could slip 'em on when you get to your spot, and they'd be better camo than anything you could paint/dye/stain on your bibs.

Let me wear them a day or two at work. Seems like I always attract something. But some expoxy based paint has left some permanent stains on my Carhartts. Just don't put a white patch in the center of the back....

I had a neighbor several years ago that swore by regular ole rattle can spray paint....
Logically, seems like it would break up your outline if done right, and that stuff seems to stick pretty well to any article of clothing I've ever gotten it on.

I've used this

to camo a MOLLE II frame pack and straps. It is flexible, adheres well, and does not come off. I did it by laying some cardboard cut outs over the area and spraying and then doing a bit of sponge painting. I've found duplicolor to be an excellent brand in general.

Leafy suit/ghillie is the best camo by far. Wearing it made me realize that camo does matter but that most camo just doesn't break up your outline that much.

I spray painted (gray) a pair of white sweats into more of a snow camo pattern and it worked great.
If you get a chance mind posting a picture? Hunting in MN a guy should have some snow camo. Some diy sweats would sounds like a good evening project for me and the kiddo

Where are my manners....

Brand new they are a little stiff but I wore them for a year at work so they are pretty relaxed now. The set I have, the shoulder straps are elastic which is nice. They did away with the elastic 2 years ago as far as I know.
Hilarious. I have those exact ones in black. Never thought about changing the color of them though. Maybe I'll bleach them in a few spots!

So would bleaching them turn them bright white? That might not be a bad idea for some snow camo....
Hehee. I don't know. Had a black shirt that I accidentally got a splash of bleach on the other day. Didn't go white, but the spots where it hit turned more of a red-ish. Bout to go spray my bibs in the name of science!20200731_134042.jpg

I wonder if more bleach means brighter color?
Sciencing accomplished! Here's how a few different methods worked out so far.

Dusting with the spray bottle nozzle set to semi-stream. It had a spackle/splash effect.

And for you UV weenies... bleach doesn't brighten the same way as UV brighteners.

I have a set of Cabelas coveralls that are without a doubt my WARMEST piece of clothing that I have. But I can't wear them here in LA. I wore them 4 times on 4 different hunts and typically in the time of the year when I would be wearing them the trees are bare and a friend told me I look like the Michelin man in a tree stand. They're the cabelas zonz camo. I have wanted to camo them for a few years, I just haven't had the nerve to take dye or spray paint to a $500 pair of coveralls.

So it looks like with bleach it's more of a reddish brown than a white. Interesting.....
