Got tired of seeing all you guys having fun on your boats..... 50$ craigllist deal. Probably be a slow build but figured I'd document on here. This weekend i hope to get the initial sanding done and get all the bad spots cut out. I've never done any fiberglass so it'll be a learning experience. Looks like lots of work but it'll definitely be worth it......IMG_20191102_151430.jpgIMG_20191101_164325_01.jpgIMG_20191102_151409.jpgIMG_20191102_151306.jpgIMG_20191102_151529.jpgIMG_20191102_151252.jpg

I"d put ash qunwhales on that and ash webbing seats if I were you.... Looking good, its all about prep!

I concur. My old fiberglass which might be a Mohawk has those aluminum gunwales and we have to cover them with pipe insulation on our canoe hunts. Leaning your shotgun against the aluminum is noisy and scratches your gun up.

Here’s mine....

Got it for free. I used it to poach bream on a pond for years. The transom was rotting so I loaded it up, brought it to my house and redid it with new wood and glass then took it back. The owner wound up giving it to me, lol.

I need to show it some love, but it’s serviceable as it is.

How did you go about cutting out the bad spots? What clues did you go off of as to where to stop cutting?

Been eyeing a couple beat up canoes myself but didn’t know where to begin. I’ll be following along as you go for sure.
