Carrying cranford rope steps

After a few hours of thinking I may have found my method of carrying them. I daisy chained the ropes and then looped it back onto the step. When you fold them they slide right over the top of the sit drag. Only issue I see is the steps making noise if they bump into each other, so I may use the speedy stitcher to attach some larger molle loops somewhere on the sit drag and slide them into those to keep them separated from each other. 41EBEE65-6EE8-473E-A9D2-A99E28CD0886.jpegE2C2B7E7-9190-4CE2-8901-AB921DB5E98F.jpeg

I use a small Duluth Tradiing Co shaving bag. It works perfectly for them I think.

Boom. Love it.

That’s a good idea but it’s not for me. I’m already putting on two drop pouches on my sit drag for my lineman’s belt and tether. Do you have any issues with the ropes tangling in the bag or when you take them out?

No, that's the whole point of doing as I suggested. I have been doing it with the wild edge ropes for a few seasons and it's exactly the same. It keeps the ropes perfect.

Well I was inspired by the ideas here and mocked this up

This particular bag can carry 6 cranfords. Enough room inside for ring of steps, and lots more. Might even put a doyles hoist in there.

Might play with different rope management techniques.

With some effort they can clink but it’s not bad at all. Have to slide in and out carefully to not clink, or to make too mich noise rubbing on the cloth.

I tried it on my sitdrag too, and my loops are big enough but the material is a bit louder. Could get better with wear. Maybe we’ll see.

Have you tried stealth strips or camo tape on them?

Seems like someone use to make a belt for them to slide in to like shotgun shells with a lid. Been thinking about diy a new version but haven’t gotten there yet

I just ordered a sling pack for this same reason. Getting stuff out while climbing the tree.. got a cheap 13$ military one on eBay would hold 10 fine but not big enough for everything I take in. I found one on amazon from guide gear 1100 ci for 50 bucks should hold everything and be easy to access all my essential gear while climbing.

I messed up by making my molle loops too small on my sit drag so I had to do a series of larger loops underneath the original ones. I had the same issue with noisy material and stealth strips really made a difference

What bag is that? Looks perfect for me. I ended up sewing 3 molle loops on each side beneath my original molle loops and it works fine, but if I’m carrying more than my usual 6 that pack may be betterA3C91A25-D564-4104-A391-7223F0FBAFE3.jpeg347DBF34-57CE-4C9E-AA8F-7B44DB2C493D.jpeg
