That's why I BBQ and cook stuff in the crock pot. Hard to overcook it when I suddenly realize I need to go tinker with my gear and end up 20' in my practice tree flinging arrows instead of watching the food!
 
I am fortunate enough that my bbq is co-located with a shaded beer table and the 20 yard mark for archery practice. It prevents some mishaps. Plus my practice tree is close by and directly in sight of the bbq and out of sight of the mrs. In the kitchen.
