I run cameras all summer and fall and all of them is getting tiring going to check all the time. It's time to get some cell cameras. The problem is theft and bear. I'm from southern wv and we are covered in bear which love to eat up cameras. My question is which cameras are good that dont cost an arm and a leg? I dont want to spend a bunch just for bear food.

I have thought about those cameras. I have a 200 cabelas gift card from work that is burning a hole in my pocket

I run 3 Link micros, if you have good service with your cell phone they they work great. They only thing is you have to pay if you want more than 100 pictures a month. I find them at chain retailers for ~$100 and use coupons to get them around $80 which is palatable if lost on public land.

Bear country here also, I just bought my 2 first cell cams, tactacam reaveal x and I bought camlock boxes for every camera I have, those boxes are rugged and the fit is perfect.

That's the ones I've been looking for. Ut the new reveal x is out of stock and have been for a month
I dont have any of the X's, just the first gen Verizon ones...they work perfectly for me. If I can come across any more of them I will buy them also.

I just bought 2 of the moultrie deltas and so far they have worked great but I dunno about bear. They have built in GPS for tracking I love that. $10 each for 1000 pics

I have several SPYPOINT link micros and have been pleased with them. I don’t pay and use the free 100 pics a month and I pay $5 for 50 hd photos to use on pics I want better clarity. They have been on camo fire the last few tuesdays for around $85 if I remember right. I run python locks from Amazon to stop from theft or use a stick to get them up 10’ or so. There the best deal I have found on cell cams yet.

I like the Cuddeback Cuddelink system. It may seem expensive, but they all run off one cell plan. I can run 16 cameras and only pay one fee. You could start with the cell cam and just add satellite cams as you can afford them. Hang them a stick high and bears probably wont bother with them.

Trying out the browning defender wireless pro with cam lock box. Like the browning data plans. Still figuring the ups and downs of the system. I actually have my regular browning right next to it to compare what it sees vs the cell camera. Will let you know.

How close do u have to keep urs to each other?

Are they all on a single property?

If so how large is the property?

What kinda of terrain?

Would be nice if usable for flat swamp filled FL public WMAs that all have crappy cell coverage

Maybe 1/4 mile. Up steep mountains. No swamp for at least a few states lol.and it's old coal mining reclaims which are miles long.

They can be several hundred yards away from each other no problem. You could put the main (cell) cam where you have a good cell signal and have the others spread around. As you're setting the satellite cams, you just have to watch the signal strength. It's expressed as a number on the LCD screen from 0-99. They say make sure it stays above 20.

I'm another advocate for Tactacam. Great product there, I just suggest hanging them a bit higher that's not convenient for bears to walk by and molest.
