Cheap Stuff that Gets the Job Done

Best thing I ever added to my hunting gear was a $7 Broom stick handle that I spray painted green and brown ($6 for paint). It’s a third leg and fools almost every animal in the forest thinking I’m a deer when used correctly While walking. Only issue is, it brings the bears in. I’m serious every time I use it bears come check me out when I’m downwind.
Wait... what? How do you use it? Being serious. Never heard of such a thing.

Have you never read Fred Asbells books where he talks about deer walking? It is basically putting your heel down with your toes pointed up and after your heel settles in kinda pop your toe down to make it sound like a 4 legged animal is walking and the stick, or in my case the recurve, acts like your toe and makes it where you can walk a little faster! The Asbell way he uses it on the last part of the stalk because it is so slow going!! I hope I explained it well enough! But do try it because it really does work!!

Wow that sounds cool. I'll have to read up on it.

Funny I just made a trekking pole post because I’ve been using one for a year or so and just this weekend realized how much better I can stalk quietly with it, it’s night and day.

I'd like to try it, but the thought of my PRIME cam hitting the ground over and over isn't appealing.
Just use a stick like the op does! I just use my recurve cause I have a very good tip protector on it otherwise it would not touch the ground either and I don't put any weight on it I just use it to sound like I am a 4 leg animal that has 2 feet moving together!

Will this work? 1/2 inch electrical conduit with a rubber crutch tip.

Looks good to me just make sure when you take a step to use that to sound like your second foot contacting the ground!
What about my 4th foot? What is the cadence? Is it step-step-pause-step-step-pause?

Always have one!!! Darn squirrels!!!
I may, or may not have, at one time shot an aggressive Rottweiler in the ass at the base of my tree with a judo. Just gave it a half draw and stung the sucker. This dog was scary. No way was I gonna climb down with that thing hanging around. The landowner warned me about vicious feral dogs on the property.

$19 EBay auction score. It's the Seki Japan version. Great little skinner!

Costco Trekking Poles, Taco Bell hot sauce and fazoli bowls are all awesome. Mora knives, thermarest zseat and the outdoorvitals pillow should get serious looks.
+1 on the Mora and outdoorvitals pillow
