Anybody shot/shoot Crimson Talon Cleaver heads?? Saw a Lusky review so i went on their website. $30 for a 3 pack shipped to my door. Thats pretty nuts for a single bevel. Seems like a clone of the GrizzlyStik Maasai. comes in 125, 150, 200. 7075 ferrule and 1 1/16" wide x .06" thick Cr12MoV blade. i scooped up some 150's since thats what im shooting now for my stingers.
Their other stuff looks kinda bizarre but this cant be too bad for what they cost. Doesn't say where they are manufactured but 99.9% of the time that means China and the steel used is Chinese Cr12MoV. I hate buying Chinese gear if i can buy American (might seem petty but i love this country) but getting single bevels in the weight and steel i want has been a wild goose chase. I settled on Magnus last year and they make great stuff, i just wish they'd make a single bevel BH. They would absolutely crush it if they did. How hard can it be for them? just thicken up a stinger and only sharpen one side jeez! Oh well...

I used to shoot Alaskans and they were not fun to sharpen and their 440c steel chipped like crazy. I would be out $45 almost every time i shot an animal, ridiculous for whitetails. For $29/3pk i can try these and not feel bad shooting a doe standing on a pile of granite (typical terrain near me). I would love to get some 150 s7 cutthroats but theyre never in stock. I like their no questions asked warranty kinda like magnus. I would even go 125 again if they had it in s7. Tuffhead has a "lifetime warranty" but excludes all kinds of stuff that happens to me after shots like diggin it out of a stump.

I'll give these a test on a few big brown critters this year and let yall know how they do. Saw some guys using em for hogs and they seemed impressed for the money.

Never used them. Let us know how sharp they are out the pack. I’m curious
yea i am too. Not expecting much. the one thing that i love about shaped heads like the samurai, tuffhead, cutthroat etc is being able to strop them. The convex blade on these is a bastarrrd to sharpen in my experience.

Update for anyone interested. Had two released arrows so far this season. First was from my compound. 200gr GS massaia that missed it's mark on a turkey. Arrow had a low angle to the ground. Left chips in the outer edges. I will get it sharp again. But won't be the perfect endge. Second arrow was a 150gr cleaver out of the crossbow. Arrow went top of deers spine, across the top of the heart and exit inside of leg and into the dirt pretty sure. He either fell on it and drove it into the dirt, or he fell on it and it went back in him. He fell over right there. Either way, broad head shows minimum sign of damage. Still slightly sharp. Will just strop some and should be good to go again.
Final conclusion. I have killed deer with the GS massaias. Both in my crossbow and compound. All have left slight indents in the edge. All have gotten sharp again. But from what I saw in the Crimson's in this last go around, and how much cheaper they are compared to the GS. I can't see why I would bring my self to pay extra when I can get same results for less. I may pick up some 200gr cleaver heads for the future.
To note. The 200gr has a bigger cutting width than the 150 cleaver. Not sure if the 200 to 200 are comparable..

Grizzlystik steel is absolute junk imo. For the money they cost its silly how chipped up they get.

I emailed GS just to ask what's going on. Apparently chipping is normal. But don't worry. You get a 12 month warranty.. mixed feelings about it. Why even offer the warranty? I'm not a metal guy. So I can't answer the question about the durability. Makes sense, but it doesn't. I guess it depends on how much it costs to make them to that hardness.

Key takeaway is that it has to be damaged on an animal…may not cover if damaged on rock behind the animal…lol
