Climbing method question

This was an idea I had earlier today and was wondering if anyone has ever done it. These are the steps I would see to use it and it follows a bit of an aider and tether mashup. Here are the steps:
1) Sinch rope/webbing around the tree, same as you would with your tether.
2) Tie webbing/rope around middle of foot. 1 on each foot.
3) Move one higher than the other where knee is in 90 degree position on one leg.
4) Step up.
5) Move Rope/webbing on other foot up.
6) Repeat steps 3-4 til desired height.

This would reduce the need for steps completely. Obvious this would make it tougher when going around branches. For the trees I hunt in the south (Georgia and Alabama) that wouldn’t affect me almost at all.
Thoughts?

Something similar to this? But two separate ropes?

Yes, very similar to that. I thought by having it on each foot, you can make it quicker since you don’t have to set the tether each time.

There's another video on YouTube of a fella climbing with to Timber hitches. Typically once cinches around your foot and other one around your thigh. I watch guys climb coconut trees like that in the Dominican Republic. The video is here on the site somewhere you have to dig to find it probably. It's about 6 or 8 months old.

Yea, I did see that one. I just didn’t like the idea of hooking around the thigh

I tried something similar and found the major problem to be the bark seems to grab the rope and especially webbing making it difficult to move it up.

What tree time were you on, pine? I usually try to get in hardwoods, so I’d think the white oak wouldd be the only one to have that issue on

I was mostly on hardwoods. I could have had additional trouble while learning due to being uncomfortable hanging from the side of a tree.
I wouldn't try this with only one girth hitched to each foot. Mr. Murphy would make sure you were eventually hanging upside down by your feet hopefully not after hitting the ground. One tether should be above you center of gravity for safety.

Yea, I had thought about that. I know I’d have my lineman’s belt on, as additional protection.

Tried something similar a little while ago. It was a lot more difficult and awkward than I had hoped. It's definitely possible, but I found it hard to stay vertical and balanced to move my tether up.

If you figure out how to make it work well, please post a video. I was hopeful it would be a viable option because it's probably about as light as you can get for a climbing method.

I’ll definitely post a video if I figure it out. However, new question, what is some quality rope to use? I’m a newbie to this and gonna do my research on it as well.

This is by far the fastest, non-step/non-srt/non-drt method I've found for climbing:

However I would not recommend this method without a saddle/harness. The guy has since posted a follow up video showing how to go around limbs and how to incorporate that climbing method with a saddle. It looks to be a bit safer but opens up the possibility of cross loading a carabiner. I think that system can be modified by using oval screw links in place of carabiners. This is something I will be considering/researching further in the off season.

Yea, watching his video kind of gave me the idea. There were just a few thing things I wanted to do that I thought would improve on the method. Obviously I’ll be wearing my saddle and using my lineman’s belt, thought about adding a riggers belt for a tether to use (wanted to start wearing one anyway as a backup to my main tether at hunting height anyway).
