Here are some pics of my DIY climbing platform. It's 18 x 18 and ended up just over eight pounds. It's rock solid on the tree, no flex that I can feel at all.

do you find it heavy to lift with your legs while climbing? nice job

Not heavy to lift at all. Once you get the tether snugged up Really just bending your knees.

Very nice work. I made one n used it last year work great just a lil bulky

This one folds down to two inches thick so it should be about like a platform to carry.

Chopped/welded up an existing climber?? Aluminum??

Aluminum, made from scratch. I've been using climbing stands for a long time so getting into saddle hunting, I thought I would try to come up with a platform climber I could use with a saddle. It has potential. I'll need to either add a folding post in the center with a versa button to keep it from spinning when I push off the side or just run a strap around the base to hold it tight. Got up on it today and found it comfortable resting my feet on the two uprights that hold the strap like an angled platform.

Nice work dude! A saddle “climber” is a hot topic and extremely requested to be put in production...if you make anything much more B.A. might want to patent it...

Thanks for the compliment on the climber. I'd rather just share anything I've learned about making a climbing platform with the members here. No plans for me to put this into production. I'm sure others can look at it and see where they could make improvements on it or change it to fit their style. I'll try to get some close up pics of it folded up and the belt locking system later this week.

Here are some more pics of the climber.

It's an XOP belt. In the center pic on the left upright you can see the locking pins sticking up above the rail. The belt slides through the rail and the locking pins slide down through the notches in the belt. The thumb knob on the threaded pin hold the locking pins in place and hold the belt against the pins. Seems solid
