After calling back and forth with this tom, he came out of the woods opposite of me into the field. Instead of coming to the hen decoy, he put on a big show strutting and drumming out of reach and on the side of the thick privet cover I was tucked into. He made a big circle around the decoy and started walking down my side of the field edge. The cover to my right and towards him made it impossible for a shot until he stepped into the edge of my opening on my side of the field just a few steps away from me. Needless to say, it was a good tight pattern. Winchester Longbeard XR was the round, but I think any shell would have done the job.
