Coffee travel mugs?

Should be here Tuesday. I’ll definitely check back in, but the true test won’t come until a January morning around 1130 when my waders are frozen and it’s time for that last cup of coffee that I’ve been saving. THAT is the tale of the tape for a thermos. Any of them will keep a full thermos of coffee hot.
The reviews sound really good. What size did you get? I'm debating the 16oz and the 20oz. Not sure I need a full 20 oz. of coffee, but on a cold day it warms you up nice.

I went 20oz.

The thermos is more of a duck hunting must have. For deer I’ll carry a bottle of water and this if it’s really cold and I plan to be in the tree for a while

Thermos Stainless King 24 Ounce Food Jar, Midnight Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008JC76XA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EeRYEbNA8DW4D

Put a Knorr pasta side in there with hot water at the house and by the time I get hungry it’s still piping hot.

Ok so this thing showed up yesterday. I didn’t open it until this morning. Right off the bat I was happy because it was taller than I expected which is good because that means it’s thin enough to fit in any cup holder made. I’ve never understood why cup holders in vehicles are not a uniform size, but that’s a gripe for another time.

0830 I fill it with hot coffee.
0831 it’s still hot. Not impressed.
0900 it’s still hot. Ok.
0930 it’s still hot. Big whoop.
1000 it’s still hot. Good.
1030 it’s still hot. Nice.
1100 it might be getting hotter......
1130 still scalding hot. I’m digging this.

Further updates to come.

ETA: I’m drinking straight out of the device and not pouring into a cup so this may take awhile because the contents are still scalding....

1200 it’s still hot.
1227 it’s still reallly hot......

1310 finally getting to a manageable temp, but still very hot.....

1330.....yeah....still hot. Real hot.

1400 still too hot for more than a sip......

1430 yes. Hot.

1500 less fear invoking heat, but still very hot. Gulping not advisable at this point.

1530 no one who likes their coffee HOT would complain about this temp.

1600 finally, more than a sip is possible.

1752 just got off the tractor. Still hot. Not warm. Hot. As in take a full swallow and you gonna wish you hadn’t kinda hot. I’m impressed.

1812 perfect coffee drinking temp if you like your coffee hot. 20oz to start with and there’s still a quarter of that left.

The moral of this story is this thing will make a GREAT thermos if you know it’s going to be a while before you’re going to get to it’s contents. Now if you plan on using it as a travel mug then you have 2 options. The first, make sure your coffee is at a temperature you can handle when you fill the mug. The other option is lid management. Obviously, all of the above is opening the lid, taking a drink and then closing the lid. For a commute I recommend leaving the lid open until the coffee reaches a temp that you want to maintain.

I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone.

Kudos to bacondude for bringing this thing to my attention

2149 still acceptably hot
I told you!!!
That thing is hands down the best thermos out there that I’ve found, and not just for the heat retention.
The way that the coffee comes out and pours into that little cup-like spout so you don’t burn the living hell out of your lips, coupled with how easy the lid flips open one-handed and locks, puts it in miles ahead of anything else out there that I’ve ever seen

I've had this one for years with no problem. no leaks and quiet. I haven't tried it with my saddle yet but I think the handle should fit one of the loops just fine.

It was a handle given on another forum using my initials RCB (bladeforums), I’m a recovering knife junky.
I am not a coffee guy or hot liquid guy, so this thread is lost on me. But I too am a recovering knife and bladeforums addict.

But honestly this place is just as bad, leave before you get sucked in.

Got it today...put HOT water in at 1:00 pm...it is now 11:30 pm and it still to hot. Love it.

I have acquired 3 green Stanley thermos through the years between goodwill and garage sales.....all made in nashville. Those 3 used outperform the new china made 1 my buddy has. I'm not much on coffee but if u follow the manufacturer direction (preheat or precool) the US made green Stanley's will keep hot thing hot for at least 6-8hrs.

18 hours later the hot water is still hot enough that you have to sip it. Still hot enough to burn you...about coffee level from a pot of brewed coffee. I think this is a winner.

Which thermos? The Stan?

This could be my first post, new guy here.
I love all my Yeti stuff, but you absolutely will not find a better hot beverage thermos than a Zojirushi, PERIOD!
Trust me on this one, one handed quiet opening, and keeps stuff HOT, like too hot. I have to let my coffee cool down before I put it in.
Try one out, you won't be disappointed.

This one here...I got it in Orange but man it is now going on the longest a thermos has ever kept my liquids hot.

24 hours later...water is still to hot to place hand in and hold it. Hotter than my tap water...I think this is a winner. I used to heat my coffee before putting it in the Yeti and it would be hot for 4-6 hours...cool enough to drink after 3-4 hours in the YETI. This thermos however I think I'll just pour the coffee straight from the coffee pot and call it a day. This Zojirushi is a winner.

I would like a similar well insulated food jar, has anyone used the Zojirushi food jars, they are not rated as well:

Rating is based on water at a starting temperature of 203°F (95°C) at a room temperature of 68°F (20°C)
Coffee Mug: 163°F @ 6 hrs.
Food Jar: 147°F @ 6 hrs.

Ideally I'd like to do overnight steel cut oats that are still hot in the morning. I've done a few tests with things I have on-hand, with zero success. That includes a yeti rambler and an older glass lined thermos food jar. I have an Energify Vacuum Insulated Food Jar on the way that I picked up cheap. I just couldn't justify $30+ on an unknown with the Zojirushi.

If I were a betting man I’d imagine they perform very well, but the heat retention of 200 degree coffee is likely way better than oatmeal
