I am new to saddle hunting this year and still working on completing my setup. Wondering if you could help me out with a few questions. I will mostly be hunting in Ohio’s Lake Erie snow belt area.
I do some backpacking with a hammock tent setup. One of the rules with a hammock tent setup is to either have an underquilt or a sleeping pad or else you will get “frozen butt syndrome” in the middle of the night because your compressing your insulation. Has anybody noticed this with there saddle? If so what do you do to fix it? I am thinking about just speed stitching in a foam pad into the sit drag or will this just increase hip pinch and make that part suck worse than just being cold?
My other question for now is what is every bodies preferred climbing method for dealing with snow? My gut is telling me to go with the hawk helium with the one loop aider
Any other snow suggestions for cold weather/snow setups?
