Hey y'all, looking to upgrade my Tethrd Mantis for something with less hip pinch, been eyeing the Phantom but I'm open to other brands. Really looking for comfort and a reputation for durability, y'all let me know what y'all reccomend. Also I'm 6'4" and 275 pounds, so gonna need something that'll fit a big fella. Thanks.

I’ve used about eight different saddles. The two that I have stuck with are the Dryad Drey which is the most comfortable minimalist saddle in my opinion. The most comfortable overall and the one I use the most is the JX3 Hybrid. It truly is a recliner in a tree

Checkout TX5 Lonestar saddle review by Michigan Great Outdoors. Hes a big guy with good info. If at all possible try before you buy. I went threw 4 saddles to find 2 I like for now.

What size waist? Sitter or leaner?
Few have complained about the XC.
Overwatch Orion has been getting some love. Custom fitted.
The TX5 has been getting some good reviews as well.
Don't think you would be disappointed by either of those.
Look and see if there is a meet up close to you. Worth some gas money to try some stuff.

I’m not a big guy but I’ve used a few saddles. I got hip pinch with both the single panels I tried. JX3 really is a hanging lazy boy but I hike too far to want to carry it. For me 2 panels are the way to go. I’ve been using the tethrd ESS and I just bought a latitude method 2 panel. Both are very comfortable.

Similar build as you (6"2" and about same wt). Have gone through a few saddles... OG Kestrel, Flex (with rubber backing), updated Flex, Merlin, Cruzr XC, Transformer and JX3. The last 3 (Cruzr XC, Transformer, and JX3) all remain in my arsenal, though admittedly didn't use the Cruzr last season. As mentioned, the JX3 is comfy as heck, but can be a pain to pack in long distances or though any cover, etc. The Transformer has seemingly just fit the bill for comfort on extended sits without all the excess bulk of the JX3.

5’11” 255. The XC is really comfortable for me

My go to’s are the Overwatch transformer and the Cruzr XC. I would also be interested in an Overwatch Orion built to my specs. You won’t find much improvement going from a Mantis to a Phantom.

That's what i was concerned about, Tethrd has jam up products but they're lacking in comfort, Im prolly gonna go with the XC pretty soon, thanks for the info.

I’m 6”2, 235-240 and the mantis was not my friend. I now have the recon sling, and that’s the end for me. Super comfortable, doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything. That’s my vote.

Helps that it's also about half the cost of other saddles mentioned. Return for a full refund if you don't like it.
