Coming season goals

My number 1 goal this year.... spend less than 300 ( maybe some new arrow shafts and cold weather boots that dont smell like roadkill) on gear for the remainder of 2021. I have everything i NEED, I have everything i NEED, I have everything i NEED, I have everything i NEED. if i sell stuff and buy new stuff with that money...does that count?

In Order:

1: Don't get hurt.
2: Have fun/Make good memories. (I've had years where I burn myself out and start having miserable sits.)
3: Get some epic double sit footage. (This time actually get the kill shot on film.)
4: Close the deal on some critters. (As long as there is meat in the freezer I'm happy.)
5: Buy a smoker and try my hand at smoked venison.

My goal is to just see more from the stand by finding them and staying in the deer all season.
Also I keep reading about deer camp and camp hunts anyone want to elaborate on that it's not a term I hear around here

deer camp is when you get your group of buddies together for a "huntcation". Drink fart eat. hunt. sleep a lil bit. let good times roll. We got spearfish camp in 9 days. Camp in the keys and eat mahi and snapper til you pop. Its good practice for your nerves and patience to wait for the big one (after you have your food secured)

Exactly. Tho it's lost its fun as I got older and more of my family has passed away. We all go to a private 1000 acres with a cabin every year. Warm food everynight, drinks, the hunting stories. I can remember amazing memories of camp when I was younger. Drunk family members on stand seeing 3 deer when there was only 1 they were so hammered. Helping those who were successful. It really wasn't about shooting something as it was valuable time with friends and family

That's what I was thinking we just call it the weekend I have a camp in the middle of 85000 acres of public we go most weekends of season. I wasnt sure if yall were doing something different or what

Kill!

I killed 3 last year, it was my first year archery hunting and first year saddle hunting. We didn’t buy much red meat this year and ate our way through the three deer I killed( 2 does and an 8pt). My freezer is just about empty of venison.

This year I would like to kill 3 does out of the gate as quick as possible for the freezer so I can really focus on a mature PA buck.

My goal every year is to not lose or wound any deer, and become a better woodsman.

And I want in on the contest this year!

Well Uncle Sam is making me move to the left coast this fall but I still would like to get at least one more nice Louisiana buck while I’m down here. My buddy may not be able to hunt this season for medical reasons so I told him I’m going to try and fill his freezer for him before I leave so 2 months and 6 tags. It’s gonna be pretty dangerous this early season for a slick top walking by me. Still holding out for 3.5yo bucks though. To many studs on camera to go sticking small bucks and mainly stay true to my self standards. Mainly just looking to continue getting better and learn more. Good luck this season gents, hope you all bag a booner!

Same thing as usual here in Michigan, fill both buck tags and a few doe permits, I hunt public land and not choosey so it usually happens. Hopefully draw a refuge hunt tag again, maybe one of the few Michigan elk tags. Shoot a mule deer buck and bull elk in idaho this year, never been elk hunting before.
