Compound self sufficiency...thoughts?

Not so fast, lol. I put most purchases through a 7 day waiting period. If I am still as hot to buy something a week later, I may buy it. Most stuff does not get past this initial barrier. That and other tactics is how I'm spending money I made in the 90's.
So you told the wife to inform Santa.

LOL. no, I'm going to touch base with some local bowhunters I know pretty soon and see what they are doing. Hopefully they can give me some good info on a reputable bow shop. Barring that I may go down the self repair rabbit hole. However, I only need to have the bows messed with every couple of years so a $500 bow press will mostly be an expensive coat rack.

The stock fingers will work especially if you are only doing light pressure. The Mathews fingers ensure the pressure stays in the limb cups and pushes evenly. You can always use a strap or two under the bow to catch it if it squirts out.
So, let us know how you like your new press. Or the used one from the shop that closed.

You will use it way more than you think. It’s super easy to do also. Just write down each step so you can backtrack if it doesn’t fix the tuning issue. No one touches my stuff but me

You may get 15% off at Podium right now. Sale going on until Sunday.

WELL what did you decide?
Nothing yet. I still need to see if I can find a new local to me bow shop I like. Barring that, I may buy a bow press and head down that rabbit hole. My problem is my rabbit holes are starting to have rabbit holes, and I am going to need to add more additions to the house to accommodate them all or just buy a climate-controlled warehouse, lol.

If I can find a bow shop I like then I will gladly pay them at most once a year to service the bows.

That repair rabbit hole is certainly a deep one, but at the same time, I have NEVER had a bow tech tune a bow as well as I can. Actually traded a bow of mine to a "Super tuner" guy for his son in exchange for 7 sets of custom strings. The tuner guy had the same bow as I traded to him. He asked how I got it shooting as well as I did. lol I was getting 17 fps more speed than he could, and far more forgiving. Easier to hold back as well. He tried to convince his son to trade bows with him. He did make one heck of a set of strings though. I still use the old "Bowmaster" cable bow "press" even on past parallel limbs. Just have to be careful with them. Make SURE they are seated well. Easy to microtune draw length, cable length, etc. Bought a Bowtech Solution a few years ago, and it has a center shot tuning feature built in. Not a huge fan of it, but it seems to work. I'm set up to do anything with the bow including making my own arrows from a bare shaft. Probably have $350-400 in everything. Have worked on Mathews, Mission, Martin, Bowtech, Obsession, Strother, and a few others for myself and friends. For me it's the most fun part of archery.
