Not really a crime. Took my dog dove hunting. Didn’t see any dove but nailed a nice rabbit on the run my dog decided to chase. Rabbit stew for dinner and a great time outside.
Gotta love rabbit.

We used to do that too. A pair of us on snowshoes with a fresh cover of snow, bump a fresh track, one guy sets up the other starts tracking. They always eventually circle back. One or the other is going to get a shot. We'd take turns tracking and standing. What a good time . . . and good stew!

Some of the most fun I had as a kid was rabbit hunting. We never had dogs, we just used to walk around some fields kicking brush tops. Only thing more fun than hunting them with shotguns was hunting them with recurves. We killed a lot more with shotguns though.

We always hunted them with .38 spl revolvers. I remember a buddy of mine inviting a guy I had never met to come out with us one day. As he's getting his gun out of the truck I said " I see you hunt with a .22 rifle?" His response was "Yeah, I like to give them a chance." To that I replied "Me too." as I spun the cylinder closed and shoulder holstered the pistol. Was he ever surprised at the end of the day when I had taken a limit of rabbits with that pistol, most of them on the run. :tearsofjoy:

I didn't have the heart to tell him I couldn't hit them standing still if I tried but, for me there's just something that clicks about drawing down on a moving target with the pistol.

Y’all are hilarious. Lunar chased two rabbits that morning and boy I was surprised to see my big black lab chasing them. I was only able to hit the one. I honestly had no idea that he would even chase them. Stew was delicious and my four kids and wife got to try rabbit for the first time. Nice to bring some meat home.
