What’s everyone using to hold their Xbow when in the saddle up in a tree? Do you hang your bow on the side of the tree, in front of you on the tree, lay it across the bridge or hook it to your tether? How do you keep it readily accessible without having to hold it the whole time? Looking for what you are using or good ideas that you have ran across. Thanks!

I use a hero clip on a HYS strap on my right side of the tree. I'm right handed but I feel most comfortable reaching to my right with my left hand, grabbing the bow with my left hand on the stock where the left hand would be anyway. It is an easy lift and it shoulders well from there especially for a shot on the right side of the tree. For left side shots I don't shoulder until I cross the bridge.

If your bow uses capture nocks (so it the arrow won't slip down if you hang it upside down), this might be a good option for you. This way, my bow stays with me as I move around the tree and there isn't much movement when I'm ready to shoulder it. 2 loops. 1 girth hitched around bow / the other around my bridge and a non locking carabiner connecting the 2. I use a JX-3 and I'm sitting most of the time, I'm not 100% sure this would work with a normal saddle. If I want to stand up, I will unclip it and hang it off a gear hook for a while.

Thanks Greg! I like that. Problem is, I shoot a Ravin that doesn’t have the foot bar, which complicates things somewhat. May have to hang it from the stock, pointing down, which may or may not be a problem.

Right on. That looks like a real good option. Definitely going to have to try that. Not sure how the extra weight on tether will be since I will be one sticking on a scout platform. Extra weight may make it harder on the feet. A loop and biner on the stock to hang on a J hook on the tree is also a good idea. Thanks!

I installed a ar15 extended pic rail on the short section of rail underneath. The rail has holes in it and I just added a short section of continuous loop through it. Then hang on side of tree. When I am ground hunting I can easily attach bipod then also. This is the one I used. https://www.amazon.com/Yankee-Hill-Machine-Picatinny-Extension/dp/B07RQ17RDKScreenshot_20210304-090717.png

I recently picked up a crossbow and was thinking how I was going to do this on public land. I can't screw anything into the tree. I have an accessory hook strap (HME I think) that should be able to hold it. It holds my compound fine. Otherwise there are some strap on bow holders that would work.

It would be really helpful if you could take a pic of the rail mounted on your bow. I was thinking of mounting a rail on the bottom of my forearm so I could mount a lightweight aluminum vertical grip on it. Better control and although it’s never been an issue, it helps keep the fingers out of harms way. OBTW, is that a Grim Reaper Mechanical? I use those. “Watch’em drop” is real with those.

Here is a pic. It just attached to the rail under your quiver mount. Then I used a picatinny to mlok adapter to remount my quiver bracket. That is actually a sevr 2.1. sorry about it being dirty haven't cleaned it up yet from after season.Screenshot_20210304-191556.png

I am the same. Vertical bow feels more comfortable on my left side. Crossbow I like on the right side. I use the same hanger.

Oh yeah I have my cocking handle sideways underneath and have my quiver top mounted. So my setup is alittle different then stock. On the r26 always annoyed me how tight everything was to your hand. Screenshot_20210304-192519.png

I use a WE Step with a rubberized hook I bent around it. The crossbow hangs to my right, and the movement is pretty minimal getting it into shooting position.

The first thing I tried was one of those nylon straps with the plastic hooks on it... it definitely didn't inspire confidence. I got the WE hanger, and while that seemed much better, it seemed like more than I wanted to fumble with. The third try was a charm.

For hanging my crossbow I made a 2inch wide hook out of kydex with 2 tabs that hook into a HYS strap from tethrd. I also use an assault sling that I can clip into the stock for when holding. Often I just rest the crossbow on my tether while it's clipped into the assault sling. On longer sits or when it's cold I'll hang it.

Here is another cool bracket for the ravins. Offset quiver bracket and tree hook on the bottom side.
