Cruzr Archon

I think there are a lot of excellent saddles now. It is hard to go wrong with many of them. I expect a lot of preferences are user specific. I sold my XC and only have a JX3 and a TX5.
The design of the Cruzr XC was such that in my mind most new saddle hunters would be happy with it. Why? I think @Chad Rice has done a great job figuring out how to make a lot of people comfortable. I expect it may be true of this new saddle
I likely should have kept my XC
The TX5 is designed for me and user specific for my comfort.
Cruzr has made a saddle that satisfies a lot of people with very few complaints

Am I the only one that thinks this looks extremely flimsy? One Complaint I had with the method was that it used flimsy material and felt cheap(not that is made poorly but that the material was not rigid or thick). Maybe I’m in the minority when it comes to wanting a somewhat more rigid and robust saddle. That said, if its able to eliminate the pressure from the top and bottom strap of the bottum saddle piece it would extremely similar to a fleece saddle in that way and could be really comfortable. I could see it going extremely well or extremely poorly.

do you think the small waist band will offer much support? I’m curious if the waist band stays put at all times or if there is any benefit to loosening it at hunting height and moving it up or down. I’d like to see a review on it from @valerio024

for me I dislike loosening 2 panel saddles waist belt because then the whole saddle can fall down. One thing that was overlooked that I liked about the new Ah flex was that you could tighten the waist belt down and Because it sat up from the saddle itself it didn’t affect how the saddle sat in the tree meaning, it stayed on your waist at all times. I like that feature. I did feel like for the method you needed to loosen the waist and bring it down some to get any decent comfort out of it.

Here is another new saddle that is similar. Is it better. Who knows.

And when some folks questioned the waist buckle, he made a change quickly by offering the upgrade.

What saddle is that?
Because the design is hard to beat. There’s is a tone of adjustability and comfort. The main issue I had was bulk and weight. If you cut down on those two things you have a true do it all saddle.

edit: I read that as “why is that?” For some reason but I’ll leave my answer to the question you didn’t ask anyway

Do you think the hype trains are dying down now and new saddle hunters are wanting real comfort or is there something else driving this direction?

Hype and marketing never die. Ford, GM or Toyota or Ram
Which truck is best? One thousand answers. They all work. Saddles are getting so most of them work.

That said if I was to recommend a saddle, the Cruzr XC has a high rate of satisfaction among new saddle hunters.
The JX3 is my favourite but not everyone likes the bulk

From the posts I see on FB most guys will try a saddle but if they are uncomfortable their first sit they will never try it again and bash the hell out of it. Probably be wise for each company to have a plush beginner model.

I think saddles are just evolving. Companies and individuals pushed the limits to see how light and streamlined saddles could go. Once that point was basically discovered now its moving back in the direction of comfort while keeping them as light/streamlined as possible. I also think the huge in flux of saddle hunters is creating a wider target audience. You have more people in saddles and they prioritize weight/comfort differently. Different types of saddles appeal to different people.

Edit: It is amazing how much Aerohunter got right with the evolution though. Cut down the bulk and fiddle factor a little bit and it would be perfect for a lot of people.

Yea, this is an unfortunate but true all to often. I tried to get some friends into saddle hunting 2 years back and they wouldn't bite, thought I was crazy. Then the hype trains came roaring along and some of my friends jumped on board despite me sharing my complaints with the saddle or saddle brand they were going after. They spent a bunch of money (coming from tree climbers they needed sticks, platform, saddle, ropes, etc.) under the premise that this revolutionary hunting style and saddle kit would change they're life. What they found out was these saddles aren't extremely comfortable all day sitting in dandelions right out the box like the idea they were sold so they were left dissapointed. In most cases they sold all there gear and bash the style of hunting to no end.

It's funny, I have changed from being really excited about saddle hunting and trying to sell the benefits to friends and people I meet to trying to bring people back down to reality. I try to encourage them to set realistic expectations and say things like, "they aren't they most comfortable thing in the world, that's marketing hype, but they can be comfortable if you get the right one and spend time dialing it in," and "they are light weight and less bulk" etc. I also find myself encouraging people to "try before you buy" and "get someone to show you the ropes". I think what @Ontariofarmer and @enkriss are saying here it spot on. If saddle manufactures make a decent priced, comfortable saddle, new comers will be more receptive to the style. It sounds like CRUZR has done something like that with the XC.

And of course, brand loyalty will always be a thing. People love teams!

I think it’s a move to bring something new to market every season or so in an attempt to separate hunters from their money. I would think as a business it would be necessary to keep revenue flowing.

Yup then we can all have multiple saddles. Covet not because I can only wear one at a time.
Trying to stay content.
