Cruzr going Retail

I have no doubt that at the prices saddles sell for, there will still be ample profit for all. The retailers are probably getting somewhere between 10-30% margin based on the volume they order and their status. The manufacturers don't miss any of that profit since it can greatly cut down on their overhead costs when they sell through distributors.

comparing saddles to stands, i'd go for a similar quality comparison and include a decent safety harness, safety strap, and lineman's in there (a muddy harness is half the cost of a saddle)
I can get behind this logic because at the end of the day, you hopefully get what you pay for. If we start comparing higher end stands such as summit, lwcg, or the newly priced novix, that gap in pricing is almost even…. But the weight and packability factor still favors the saddle set ups. I am excited for all these light weight platform options that are coming out… and who knows we might have a new platform within the next 6 months to a year that could be sub 2 lbs and the size of mid to large platform. It’s definitely a great year to be a saddle junky

Well… all their accessories are made in….

CHYNA…

Well that's disappointing. Though I'm not sure the retail accessory market is what we're talking about here. As it stands, what's Latitude's retail market outside of Jay's Sporting Goods? Latitude's new platforms and saddles are reportedly USA made, at least for the moment. Are they going to start outsourcing them to enter the retail market?

Jeffery archery in Columbia SC is carrying Latitude saddles and accessories now.

There is at least one store that sells Latitude in MI, Jays in Clare

They carry the ESS, which should come as no surprise, having been John Eberhard's longtime stomping ground. Also, the Mantis, Predator, and some other Tethrd accessories.

They also have the Hawk Hammock and XOP Edge.

So a small smattering of saddle hunting stuff.

Jays isn't Cabelas, but regionally it's a big sporting goods outlet. I'd trade in my area Cabelas for a Jays.

These are the kinds of places that will have successful symbiosis with saddle companies, at the moment.

Interesting they have that many retailers, but none of the big guys. Wonder what the reason is for that.
The big guys require a special insurance that covers a claim up to 7 years. Very few if any saddle companies will carry (maybe Hawk and XOP) that particular insurance as it costs over 100 k per year. Add in that large stores such as bass pro and cabellas are a logistics nightmare meaning if your shipments to fulfill their orders are late, you are penalized. We were approached by a cabellas regional manager in Louisiana one time and once we explored the costs involved, I’d never be able to afford all the upfront costs along with the percentages they would get for their bulk purchasing. Smaller retailers are way easier to work with than large chains.

Not sure about BP & Cabelas, but Walmart normally puts in their contract all unsold inventory can be returned for full credit. That is one of the reasons API Treestands went out of business when Paul Meeks owned them.

The big box stores definitely define terms and the terms will always favor them. It’s not a bad thing because it is huge exposure and the bulk purchasing is “guaranteed” money but I think working deals with smaller retailers for additional exposure is the safer bet. I’m hoping the couple stores we are in works out long term and I love our deal with EWO! They are great to do business with and we get a few extra sells a month during the off season because of it.

Yeah jays is pretty good, about 20 minutes from my house. Cabela's has went down hill in my opinion the last 10 years. They cut alot of product lines over the years. Kinda disappointing. Day light outfitters on m20 between Midland and Mt pleasant carries latitude also. Couple of my friends from work own that place.

Ever since Bass Pro bought them everything has been shrinking. We used to have board meetings for our trappers association at Cabela's because they had a conference room and food service. They got rid of that two years ago and if it wasn't for us it would of been gone earlier.

I talked to a bow tech at a 3D shoot today and he said his shop is going to be carrying Cruzr products.

I think tether is a number of small stores in Michigan. Knutsen's in Brooklyn had them, and if I remember Schupbachs had them in Jackson if I remember right.
