Custom Platform Suggestions

I am a new saddle hunter and new to the page. I work at a fabrication shop so I decided to build my own platform. It’s still in the design stage so I’m looking for any input, I’d add a picture of the design but it keeps telling me the photos I take/ try to upload are too large. (If someone can tell me how to upload a pic here so it’s smaller I’ll add pictures of the design)

It’s going to be similar to the predator platform but I’m planning to add a 2” piece on the front at a 45angle to help reduce foot fatigue (worth it or not worth it?). Making it out of 3/8” aluminum plate punching/drilling holes to lighten it up. 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” aluminum square tube for the Post. Single versa button mount with the ability to add a bottom strap if needed.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

Got the pictures to work,
Changes that are already in the works from what’s in the picture are the versa button will be added, the top angle will be larger and the leveling plate on the underside will be reinforced. 8BA98B5C-DA99-4296-88FF-CF320BCC35DA.png631C442B-3914-4199-9D33-6DFA0C1043CF.jpeg631C442B-3914-4199-9D33-6DFA0C1043CF.jpeg

Someone else here made a platform that had an angled piece on the front. I think his was probably 4 inches or more though

Scout angled platform combined with the predator platform would be the sh&$ looking forward to seeing your creation

I will try to find it. Do you think 2” wouldn’t be enough? My thought was that would be enough to take the edge off compared to resting on a corner without being too bulky.

I don’t know if it’ll be enough to make difference through big hunting boots

Subscribed. I am also working on platform designs to fabricate. I think the angled part on the front is a great idea, it will reduce some foot hot spots. I am working on a similar idea.

I did one out of steel tubing, actually 3 of them finally settled on 6" angle 20 degrees. This pic is one with i believe 30 degrees.

I would love to see yours if you want to share pics/ideas

I modified my ambush to what you are talking about. Super comfortable and Rock solid.
That is awesome! I considered buying an ambush to modify but that defeated my cost saving goal, and I can get the aluminum I need for my platform at scrap value so hard to beat that.

Did you find the small lot to be ample?

Nice! Yeah I’m now leaning towards reducing the angle on mine. Did you try one with less than 6” on the slope?

My suggestion is this..... Put ur saddle on and tether into a tree and get set up into your most comfortable position ... Put an angle finder on your chest or have someone put it on your back....make the whole foot surface of the platform at whatever angle u came up with....

Interesting I hadn’t really considered that, but I do plan to have it so I can adjust the level of the main platform so I will do that to assure I leave enough room to adjust to that angle. Thanks for the suggestion!

Small lot?
Thanks I modified it because I didn't like the flex and the way it cammed not enough contact with tree. I liked the size of platform. I really like the way it is now plus I can carry 3 or 4 beast sticks locked in on the bottom side.

Sorry “Small Lip*” looks like you’re is in the 2-3” rang? I’m debating if I should move the bend closer to the tree.

Im still in the planning stages. I work at a waterjet shop, and I have all the 6061 and 7075 aluminum I could ask for. I have everything I would need to finish everything at work, unless welding is needed. The delay for me is deciding if I want to try messing with a climbing platform, something like what guys are doing with Lone Wolf Hand Climber Seats. I think I could fabricate a hunting platform in one iteration, but unless I get some more input, I think me making a climbing platform may take a few attempts.

My idea is for the entire platform to angle down to a comfortable angle on it's post when hanging from a saddle, similar to how lawn chairs adjust the backrest angle, by moving down a cut notch in the support piece. Does that make sense? Its like what Weldabeast said, kind of.

TaeHas, looks like you’re off to a good start. I would be concerned about traction on the platform surface. Any plans to add texture, such as by coating with truck bed liner or something?
