Danner boots??

I bought a pair of vitals before last season. I don't know how many miles I've put on them but it's a lot. Combine that with the very rocky terrain I hunt. They don't show any signs of significant wear and are still waterproof with no leaks.

Hands down the most comfortable hunting boot I've ever owned.
X 2 on this. I’ve put several miles on mine, and they’ve been great. Can’t beat them for the price.

Those are this years light hiker. So far, so good. Very light and comfortable and required no break in. Got them for like 120 on campsaver.

Hard to beat the danner pronghorn for the money. They can be had for under 200 if you look around. Dont overlook belleville boots. Wore them in the usmc and they were great boots.

I got issues the Belleville ICBs on Parris Island and I loved those boots. I switched to Danners in TBS, though. One of the enlisted 03 trainers there out it best, "it's not a $200 pair of boots, it's an investment in your feet."

I'm wearing Pronghorns now and like them.

I know Danner aint the best boots for the backcountry but I just don't have it in the budget for the big-name boots. Trying to find a good pair of boots at no more than $200. Can anyone recommend a pair of Danner boots? And if not, what do you recommend?

Just curious as to why danners aren't the best for backcountry? I have a pair of uninsulated danner powder horns that I love. I'm also hunting in Pennsylvania and have never hunted in the mountains of the west, I have however done a lot of hiking in utah/california in asolos. Just curious as to what people know about boot choices for that environment that I don't know.

I'm guessing it might come down to interpretation of "not the best". When I hear that, it sounds like a euphemism for "crappy". However, the person might literally mean "not the very best"....which in a world of boots that can cost over 500 bucks....I guess that is literally true. I'm sure most folks would consider Danners as totally adequate for most things...I do. I have a hard time with boot sizing (wide foot) and nowhere to try on high dollar boots before buying...so it doesn't make any sense for me to spend over 200 bucks on a pair. I just buy a new pair every few years.
