Dayton, OH Saddlehunters?

I'm just north of Dayton, in Lima. Finished up my first season in a Cruzr XC tree saddle, last year. :)
I was using 3 climbing sticks last year, but this year I'll be using the 2TC climbing method. It's a much lighter weight system and quieter too.

Can’t wait for September 25, first year in the saddle but have been practicing as much as I can. Just so dang hot so it’s horrible just getting to practice. Y’all hunting public or privat?
SAME! I hunt both but last year I had some luck with private land. I've seen plenty of deer on public but not close enough nor a decent ethical shot.

I just upgraded my set up this year and went for the one-sticking method. Went out the other day and sweated my a** off but I was also a bit nervous since it was the first time doing it. I still need some practice before the season though

Have owned Jeeps, Fords, and Chevy 4x4s and none of them did any better in the snow than my Subaru. Been in rock crawling clubs while living in Colorado with a purpose built rock crawler so I know a little about 4 wheeling. My Subaru is bought and paid for, can’t do that with a 70k brand new truck. No offense taken but I’m far from a yuppie.

Never liked any of the ones I've driven, gotta live near the dealer if you want it serviced and they are very anti-hunting.

I spent most of the 2019 winter in Lima.
I was working at Whemco. It a foundry just on the outskirts of town...
I didn't see a whole lot of wood out there and Man it sure is flat!

I did get to meet a fellow Trapshooters.com member and he hooked me up with some places to shoot trap and sporting clays while I was out there...

Flat it is...flatter than a road killed squirrel.
The crops attract the deer, so hunting close to corn and bean fields, next to a wooded area is always a good thing.
About a mile and a half southwest of Whemco, is where I shot this buck in '91, with a custom recurve bow. He weighed 240# standing and 191# field dressed. I had to call for help to get him dragged out.

I am from Lima as well and it sounds like bowhunterXC shot that deer in almost my backyard. I live on the Allen Auglaize county line. Great genetics in area but defiantly flat ground. I started out in a Phantom and now use a Transformer.

Hunt all over the Dayton area - Caesar Creek, Spring Valley, Clark Lake, Beavercreek, Sycamore, and even as far out as west as Woodland Trails and east as Deer Creek. Started hunting 20 years ago in Nebraska when screw in steps and tree stands were the latest and greatest “mobile” tactic - ha! Now I’m one sticking and never looking back.

Any of you Dayton guys have a ESS or a tx5 saddle that maybe I could come up and give a try out. Maybe after you get your buck or season is over. I am dead set on both of those but really like to try one first.
