Anyone use DDW detergent bombs to wash their Scentlok? From my understanding they don't use any cover scents or any scents whatsoever, just plant enzymes to destroy odors.

Says on the website "Laundry Bombs are effective on natural, technical, synthetic or carbon garments to remain undetected when you step foot into the woods this season."

I just use fragrance free laundry soap. Do you normally wash your clothes with scented soap? Might get some of that on your hunting clothes if using the same washer so using the scent bombs would be a mute point. Least that’s my take on it.

I used them on my Scent-lok. First I run a bomb through an empty washing machine with cold water and then I'll wash my Scent Lok clothing on gentle in cold water.

Washing SCENTLOK IS DISCOURAGED unless "{it has blood or mud). That being said I do use the scent free bombs you mentioned (DDW) for non scent lok garments( mostly scouting gear) and like them for both. A tub lasts me two or three seasons.

All free and clear no Uv brightners no perfumes. Cheap and readily available.

if the ones you’re talking about are the same price or less, use em. But I doubt it.

I can’t speak to what to do with your scentlok, but I seem to remember to just dry it unless it’s absolutely filthy

Beware of supermarket products claiming no perfumes or dyes added. They do not tell you but the ingredients are not scent free and they only claim is no perfumes or dyes added. They are not scent free because the ingredients themselves have odors and no claims are made that they have been removed or modified that I know of . DDW and Scent Killer Gold soaps are specific and claim scent free broad spectrum scent control. I would only use DDW and/or SKG on my garments . Nothing Else.

what are the ingredients in DdW scent killing laundry detergent or bombs? Can’t find it on their website.

this is what’s in all free and clear, as required by federal law to be disclosed...

Not gonna argue whether or not ‘scent elimination products for hunting’ work as advertised. I’m only pointing out that there are products that remove scent and dirt from your clothes, that aren’t specifically tailored to hunting, and don’t carry the price tag or shady marketing.

Also, if you have a garment that will be ok being soaked in warm water for a while, I’ve found a presoak of my hunting clothes in dawn soap and hot water, before washing, is more effective at removing dirt blood and the oils from poison plants.

Good point and spot on. I can`t smell like a deer so I have really no way to confirm which products are truly scent free to deer. It cost me more for peace of mind when I use specific to deer products I know. Because I use so little detergent now I don't think I would really notice much in the way of savings. I dry wash with ozone between hunts ( Scentlok OZ bag) and limit use to 40 hours between treatments in the dryer.

same. I don’t do any scent control, but I subscribe to scent lok’s plan on washing haha! I wash only if muddy or bloody or poison ivy covered. I wear em till someone tells me I stink.

clothes last a heck of a lot longer that way.

have you noticed any deterioration from the ozone treatment?

I never heard that it's discouraged to wash sentlok. I have talked to them at ATA shows and on the phone and never heard that or was told that.

That's probably not accurate on my part. They ENCOURAGE you not to wash Scent Lok garments except when they are dirty hence the quote from scentlock " Muddy or Bloody". You can find this in the care instructions which by the way don`t get read often enough. I was doing it all wrong for a while before someone pointed that out to me.
CARE

WASHING:
Follow all care instructions indicated on the garment label. Garments should only be washed in cold water on a delicate cycle.
MUDDY OR BLOODY RULE:
The less you wash your carbon gear the better. The “Muddy or Bloody” rule is a great approach. You should only wash your Scent Lok carbon clothing when they are visibly muddy or bloody from your hunt.
REACTIVATION:
Reactivation is the key to keeping Carbon Alloy® effective & virtually as good as new for many seasons to come. We recommend, for maximum odor adsorption, to reactivate your Scent Lok garments in your household dryer at least every 40 hours of field use. For example, if you hunt for four hours a day and store your clothing in airtight storage after each hunt, you should reactivate your gear after 10 days of hunting. To reactivate your Scent Lok carbon clothing, place your gear in a household dryer and cycle on high heat for about 40 minutes.
PROPER STORAGE:
Airtight storage is the most effective way to keep foreign odors from contaminating your ScentLok gear. It also prevents odors from using up the adsorption capacity of Carbon Alloy® when you’re not in the field. So remember, immediately following reactivation and after each hunt, your ScentLok garments should be kept in an airtight and dry storage. Excessive odors will require the system to be reactivated more often. ALWAYS store garments dry, never damp or wet.
SOCK CARE:
Machine wash gentle in cold water only with no bleach or fabric softener. Lay flat to dry. Do not iron or dry clean. All ScentLok garments are covered by our satisfaction guarantee.
LIQUID SPRAYS & COVER SCENTS:
We highly recommend you DO NOT use any liquids or cover scents directly onto Scent Lok carbon clothing. The carbon will adsorb the molecules in the sprays/scents and will make less room for it to adsorb your human odor while in the field. We recommend ONLY using liquid sprays and cover scents on your hard good field gear such as your bow, boots, ladders, tree stands etc.

I do try not to wash my scentlok but when I do I wash them with Dead Down Wind on gentle cold or preferably by hand and hang dry and then reactivate. I been using Sentlok ever since it came out and I still have my first liner or base layer as it is called now and it still is holding up. I own mostly base layers but I do have Sentrlok rain wear and one two piece suit.
