DIY 1.45 lb camera arm and base

Awesome, well done! Let us know how it works and how much weight you think it could hold.

Would be really really interested in one. Wondering what weight it could hold safely though.

Yea def like this...I imagine I would carry my camera again with this

Just curious, why the PVC pipe inside the carbon tube? Why not just the carbon tubes or just PVC pipe? Just curious is all. Camera arm looks great!

Curious how heavy of a camera would you trust on this rig, look awesome, I built one a while back but I like your design better.

So it worked pretty good, but I really want the adjustability of a ball head to get it perfectly level. I would say that out on a limb probably has the best production version right now, but I'd like to have a 2 section arm with the top one shorter. 3 sections is overkill for saddle hunters in my opinion.

The problem with making these is that you need a machine shop to get the tolerances you need to make it strong and smooth. I'll be tinkering in the future, but for now I have one built with a camera ball head that can support a small camera at the end of the arm.

Which out on a limb do you think works best? Looks like they have 3 different versions of a standard arm, and a big behemoth of an overhead one.
I don’t see on the website what each arm is rated to...

EDIT, I finally got it to show weight ratings. I just had to request the desktop version of the website.

I have just started doing one very similar and it's looking good, just waiting on the ball head camera mount to finish, I just machine up some delrin endcaps that fit inside the carbon tube with rounded ends, only two weeks to go before I head out hunting for it's first trail, regards and thanks for sharing

This is awesome man! Following as this has inspired me, as I love filming my hunts but dread dragging the heavy camera arm into the woods. Nice work man!

@BCHunter great looking arm!! well made design and super lightweight! Inspiring me to take some weight out of my DIY arm as well. What are your arm segment length pivot-pivot? just curios I made mine at 12" & 10"

How is this working? Interested after a few years of use your thoughts

So I didn't like the plastic parts on the base and the rosettes didn't allow for micro adjustability. If i had my own machine shop i would make it all out of aluminum and tweak a few parts and be very happy. this season I'll be running the fourth arrow talon micro triple arm until I can make something that's a little more steady. but I definitely like the lighter/more compact setup once I can perfect it.
I like the DIY LWCG pocket arms that these guys are making, I may have to make one of my own when I get the time. I will definitely be using a double arm system though.
