DIY 3 ounce deer hoist

Why don't you just take a rope and tie the other leg off to another tree after you hoist the deer up? It's what I do and it works well.

I am the OP here. I’ve been deer hunting for 34 years and butchering my own for about the last 20 years and it never occurred to me to tie off a leg to another tree. How have I not heard or read that? It makes sense. I will definitely be trying that on my next one.

I butcher a lot of critters and normally do it on the ground. Tying a leg to a tree helps a lot even on the ground when you are alone. I just made up the chain links for my pack to try one hoisted off the dirt. Is Dyna Glide that much smaller than 550 to save some bulk? I've never bought any yet.

Same I always tie legs off whether elevated or on the ground

Yes, Dynaglide is thinner, stronger and more durable than 550. It also has almost zero stretch n
