DIY 3d printed two-blade broadhead case

So this fall I'm dragging one of my younger brothers out west with me to go chase elk in Colorado. I recently switched to cutthroat single bevel broadheads (150gr) from my kudu points last year. As a result I'm lending him my kudupoints but I really liked the case the kudus come in. So before I hand off my kudus I took a few hours to learn how to use fusion 360 (and new and creative ways to cuss), and modeled a copy cat broadhead case for my cutthroats. I've posted the STL file on thingiverse (link here). It's a work in progress but I figured I'd share with the rest of you.

On a side note, if anyone has a svg of the saddlehunter logo would you mind sharing it with me? I think it would be cool to inlay the logo on the face of the case since I got the inspiration for tinkering with 3D printing from you all.

Side question, how did you like them kudu points? I almost got some but went with the cutthroats. Still thinking about getting a few to play with though.

They are great broadheads, I never had any issues tuning with them. I managed to harvest two bucks with the same head last year, both complete pass-throughs. My only complaint about the kudupoints is that due to the curved nature of the blades (and my lack of skill) I can't get them nearly as sharp as a straight edge broadhead (like the cutthroats).

Super-cool design man! I don't have a 3d printer, but I'd buy a case if they would fit Magnus Stinger Killer Bee Buzz Cuts. ;) ;) ;)

Looking at the buzzcuts it looks like the ferrule tapers down to the threads. The clips that hold the broadheads in are modeled after a 5mm ferrule so I'm not sure the buzzcuts would fit, however it still might have enough clamp force on the threads to hold it in place. My only concern is the overall length might be a bit too long to fit in the case.

However it couldn't hurt to try it out to see if it fits, plus I can always use the feedback. Shoot me a PM and I'll send you a case to try out.

NOTE: This is not me volunteering to print everyone a copy, this is a one-off :)

I lined them with the molded plastic packaging that my cutthroats came in, and used hot melt glue to hold the whole mess together. They work well but your solution is much more elegant. I'll download the stl and print it. I'm shooting 200 grain heads. I hope your case will fit. If not, I'll modify accordingly, and post the stl here.

I like how the kudu case has walls around each head. Seems like that might keep the blades from rattling around and dulling if one or more worked loose from its clip. I may play with that before I print mine.

Yeah I liked the partition walls too in the kudu case, the only issue I had with them was I wasn't sure if putting in those partitions would cause issues fitting different size/shaped broadheads so I left them out.

To mitigate the possibility of the blades working loose I made the ferrule clips a little wider to reduce plasticity of the part. If the broadheads fit a little too tight, I would suggest reducing the width of the clip to make them a little easier to come out. Let me know how the 200 gr cutthroats fit, I'll adjust the design accordingly.
 
200-grain Cutthroats just fit. Photo of my green version attached.

I printed the box as is and they dropped right in. I am thinking that I might add a triangular pocket for each broadhead tip, and print it in nylon (instead of PLA) so it will be less likely to break in my pack. Thanks for sharing your design.

That is awesome! Thanks for letting me know! I've been experimenting with ABS because my PLA case melted/deformed in my bow case the other day (hot day while out slinging long bombs). None of the broadheads came out but I didn't want to risk it.

So far the ABS isn't working out too hot, the ferrule clips snap/break instantly when I press the broadheads in. I'll need to swap out hot ends if I want to safely print nylon on my printer.

Petg is strong and is resistant to heat or chemicals you also don’t need an enclosure with petg just print without the parts fan
