DIY Climbing Stick (1.5lb)

$10 per step. Linked post has more info and shipping details.
Can I buy just one? Only want it for top of LW stick to use with one stick climbing method and potentially to stand on at hunting height.

I'm wanting to make a set like this.
I'm wondering though if anyone has tried using a 12" length of 1" square tube as the steps, instead of machining aluminum bar.

I think it will be lighter, easier, and cheaper.

I'm having a friend prototype one tomorrow.

Is there a reason I havent seen anyone else do this?

@flinginairos made some with angle aluminum for steps. I copied his set and they work great.

Those look killer!!! I really love the set that I made. I have been tinkering with them all summer and they are absolutely rock solid. I didn't drill holes in mine and probably won't but those look super good. I have been climbing with the knaider/swaider setup on mine and it works great!

I think I measured a reduction in weight of 70g per stick by drilling the holes.

The weight reduction depends on the stick thickness and hole size

3/16" x 1" angle aluminum. Sticks are 24" long. 23" Steps. Steps are 8" wide total. I got my idea from @flinginairos
He posted up some killer sticks. My posts are made of 1" square tubing x 1/8" walls. Is are 1/16" walls, but he's a skinny dude.
I could probably get away with 16th inch tubing too and 1/8 inch for the steps. They'd be lighter but these only weigh 1lb 15oz as they are with ropes. They are solid though. I can bounce on these all day long. No give.

1lb 15 ounces is so freaking light. I love it and I want them haha. The angled aluminum is probably a little lighter than the fixed steps that everyone else has been using for their diy sticks don’t you think?
