I know this has been done and done again but I was at Lowe’s today and figured since I was there I would look for stuff to make a couple tenders out of.
3/16 stainless anchor shackle
550 cord
1/4” shrink tubing
I made them this afternoon and tried them out while practicing in the front yard. Super slick. Slides along the rope very well. The heat shrink keeps them somewhat stuff so they don’t bang against the carabiner. I am sure everyone on here has the 550 cord. The shackle allows for mid line attachment so you can put it on an existing line without having to untie knots and stuff. Trying to post a picture but it keeps saying file is too large. Not sure how to fix that.

As far as pictures, either resize them ( android and IPhone are fairly easy, I have android if you'd like help) or screen shot the picture(s) and post the screen shots

Ok now that I was educated on this here are the tenders I made today. I am new to saddle hunting so if anyone has any input please share.

Take a look at this, you may not need a tender.

I watched that video and before I made these that is how I was doing it. Honestly this just got done cause I was at Lowe’s getting stuff for the house and knew I was gonna be bored later.

So biner goes in the paracord and rope/tether through the shackle? Looks like it'd work pretty good!

Yes sir. That is exactly how it would go. I liked how they weren’t plastic so I didn’t have to worry about the plastic getting brittle in the cold or over time. Paracord is cheap so really only investment is the stainless shackle. I think they were $4 each at my local lowes. Also liked the fact they can be added to existing tethers or lineman’s ropes without having to untie knots or anything. If you get a new tether just unscrew the shackle and hook it up on the new one and your good to go

You could prolly do the same thing with small hog rings and they would weight a lot less. Looks good though, I like the shrink tube addition.

Yeah I don’t think you would be able to swap it to different stuff if you need to. But I am not sure. I know they are heavier than the plastic ones but man they are slick and slide really good.

I like that, I'm probably going to steal it. I might do some sort of friction hitch arrangement instead of an overhand knot to make it more adjustable on the fly, without re-tying it.

I also saw this idea in @phatkaw’s video. Rubber washer on your tree tether to keep it from falling when not under tension. Picked this up at lowes for like $2

Thanks! Somehow I didn’t see those pics on first read through. I see what you’re up to now. Is this for tending the prussic on a tether, lineman’s belt, or?

I like the diy but seems like it's unnecessarily heavy and may introduce the possibility of metal on metal noise. Second @BTaylor 's hog ring idea. Even a simple split ring(like on a keychain) would work. Or a 1/4 inch ring of 1 inch sched 40 PVC or something in that realm would be a metal-free option

I agree 100%. At my side and right in front of
Me are the last 2 places I want metal or things that can hang up on essential items like bows and rifles.

I see the point of not wanting metal. As far as heavy they are really small shackles and don’t weigh much at all. My plan is to put shrink tubing around the bow of the shackle also I just didn’t have any that size at home. I appreciate everyone’s input on this idea. Glad this place isn’t like Facebook where everyone just bashes you for your ideas. Also I did these with the shackles instead of a solid welded ring so I didn’t have to undo knots and stuff like that. All I have to do is unscrew the shackle and move it to a new tether or lineman’s belt.

welcome to the forum!

I use delrin D-rings for my prussik tenders. Super cheap, light-weight, and for those who care, absolutely no sound.
