Last year I moved to a climber after always using preset stands and fought with pull ropes all season. This year I found saddle hunting and have been fighting with pull ropes as well. At first I was just rolling it up over my hand and eventually I stumbled across the "knot free" pull up rope method. it works well but can be cumbersome in the dark. Local shops were out of the retractable gear hoists so I took matters into my own hands. I 3d printed an eyelett for the backpack's drink pouch and 3d printed a retractable hoist, total cost $6 for the recoil spring + pennies worth of 3d filament. Tried it this morning and it was amazing. Can add a clip to go on the saddle later if I decide i want to do that.

Currently the rope is 24' long and I plan to do a couple more iterations and make the external size a little bit smaller/lighter (not heavy right now there is just a bit of excess material). This first successful version also isn't waterproof or made from a material that can withstand much contact with moisture. Once I get all of the bugs worked out I'll reprint in a permanent material and seal it.

I'm giving one to a buddy this week to try out. Depending on what he says I may see what people want.

Once you get it dialed in I’d def be interested. Been looking at getting one anyways and I’d rather give you the cash instead of Amazon

How much does this version weigh without the rope? If it’s much lighter than the Doyle’s, you will have a bunch of people interested (like me).
