Just curious how many people and doing it? What's the best way you have found?
I usually just slice up the heart and cook it like a butterfly back strap.
What are you guys going?

Love them hearts!!!

My preferred way is cut up and sautéed in garlic butter.

One time I tried to build my own heart creation. I called it the heart attack. I stuffed it with left over stuffed jalapeño popper cheese and wrapped it in bacon. Didn’t turn out the greatest due to timing of items being cooked. But I still ate the whole thing!

Another way I’ve done it is cubed up and added to venison chili to make a chunky chili.

I tried it cooked in red wine, garlic, and onions last year, not a fan. Gonna give it one more try this year. May try cooking it and doing tacos

My little girls get mad when I heart shoot my deer with a gun, they love the heart. They are 5 and 7 and they love it cut into chunks, wrapped with bacon, and grilled. I enjoy it that way too.

I eat the heart, just started two seasons ago and can't believe i wasted it before. Well, sometimes I gave it to a friend to pickle.
I tried liver a few years ago but the texture was horrible, probably due to my unskilled preparation. I will try it again this year if I get the chance. I used to eat liver growing up and liked it,but that was probably beef or calf.

I eat the heart and liver, and especially the liver, out of health principle more than anything. Liver has incredible nutrients but I struggle with the flavor, even with ketchup or BBQ sauce. But I learned if you soak it overnight in milk, then sauté it with onions, it's tolerable if not overcooked. Similarly, I always saltwater-soak the heart. It really softens and enriches the flavor.

I think the heart is the best part of the deer. I eat it first. Usually marinated for a day that my wife makes to soften it up, slice it and sear it on a pipin hot cast iron skillet then bake at 400 for about 8 minutes. Cant beat it. Look up whiskey butter heart recipe, you will never leave it in the woods again.
