Dry Fire…

About this time two years ago my brother in law tried shooting by PSE evolve with his finges and there was so much nock pinch from using fingers that it essentially dry fired the bow. Busted one of the cables, bent both cams and took a chunk out of one of the limbs. Had it back in time for season so there's a chance you may too

I never thought I was capable of it. Yet, here I am. Lol.
I havent "dry fired" one but have had 2 nocks fail over the years where the bow fired but the arrow didnt leave so technically a dry fire. Also have had 2 compounds blow up at shot release when cables broke, once at a target and once at a deer. I hit neither LOL.

Hey one of my best friends Dad went to OH last year for the first time and just started saddle hunting last season, he got up into his stand hung his bow a and a few hours later had a big 8pt come into him, grabbed his bow and move into position on his platform, the buck stopped at 20 yards he drew and settled the pin on the vitals and released and his bow blew the strings off and his biggest buck he ever had a opportunity to shoot ran off… he completely forgot to put a arrow on the string and drive fired his bow  .

Its happened to everyone. Me included sucks. I will say i did it to my Bowtech and only thing needing replaced was cams - they designed them to take the damage. Key as most have mentioned is go to dealer and tell them what you did. A good one will help.

Threads like this are finally convincing me to buy a backup bow. Or a new one, and demote my current (19-year-old) Bowtech to backup status.

Not to derail but where is the buck @Wirrex shot already this year????????????????????????????????????

Dry fired mine last year. Strings, cables, both cams. Called the dealer I bought it from origianally and was in a bowshop the next day buying a new bow. Terrible feeling

How do you know if your bow is damaged or not? I would assume string/cable stretched on mine. I'm half scared to take it to a shop a week before the season...

Check if your cams are crushed or bent, go over every part of your limbs with a cotton ball, check every part of your string and cables. If there is a bulge on any served section that is a broken strand of string. Check timing.

Cam was bent, luckily I got a new one for $50. Moved my point of impact down a LOT like my 30 yard is now close @20. Bummed about it that, could it be that i went from 28.5 to 29 dl?

did you do a full refund?
I’d 100 % expect a new cam to require a tune from scratch (checking timing and everything like I’d changed strings)

Check that your peep didn’t move. Mine did. Also your string or cables could be junk.

There are no visual defects in string/cable. I told them I dry fired, check it out. Was told limbs and everything ok, just a bent cam. I did paper tune again, rest did need to come up but I left a slight sideways tear, If I walk back tune I always have to move my rest a little left. Fletched arrows

Thanks for the help guys
