Eastern Woods Outdoors Custom Sticks

Yeah I know. What I'm saying is that it basically looks like the guy who does the design and fab work for OOAL looked at @DanO stuff and made his sticks based on that design.
I have a set of custom Dano sticks and I have the SHikars and they honestly are nothing alike besides that they are both climbing sticks.

I’d put my custom ultralight DanO stick up against a beast stick any day of the week. I’m sorry but the beast stick doesn’t hold a candle to these ultra lights that can be built from parts from DanO.

I was being kind to Dan Infalt. And your stick costs slightly more to produce.
I use an EWO stick too. I have used homemade sticks with parts from various places - such as @ImThere and EWO for two years. I sold my beast sticks.
Some guys are not DIY types and beast sticks are cheaper. So I did not want to run them down.

Here’s what my EWO sticks weigh. These have drilled posts. And all components came from EWO

Beast sticks are a similar weight depending on the strap, and stealth strips actually weigh something
I have made lighter EWO sticks. You lighten it by changing the strap and use 3/32 aluminium which is hard to get and drill it appropriately it gets lighter.

Which do you prefer. I have never tried Shikar sticks.

Not sure, last season I had the LWCG and EWO and always grabbed the EWO so I sold the LWCG. Then I couldn’t help myself and bought the shikars. I have been messing with them and made a few climbs but I can not honestly compare them yet besides packability. Shikars win in that category.

I like being able to order stuff from them but to build a set of sticks piece meal you are better off just buying beast stiks or the LW customs. Its cheaper. I just bought some 1" square tube and took the stand offs off my LW sticks and bought 4 steps from from them and used the rest of the parts from my LW sticks and ended up with a sweet set of 4 semi custom sticks for $100 bucks. Stick (28.1 oz / 1.7 lbs) w/ 9ft 9mm rope (6.5 oz / .4 lbs) = 34.6 oz / 2.1lbs

If you use a 5 mm or 6 mm tech cord you will be 1.8 pounds

The rating on some of those cords exceeds 4000 pounds

I have used that type of cord for two years

My cam cleat takes a max rope size of 6mm. I run a full bury 7/64 amsteel rope on mine.

I love my EWO built one sticks & @DanO is a fine gentleman that I like to give as much business to as my wallet can handle.

A rhonstan Carbon medium cam cleat is rated 3 to 12 mm rope. It has never slipped on my 5 mm rope

This is the rope I use. Expensive but rated at 5000 pounds.

A full bury on some Amsteel would work. Maybe 3/16

You are correct it’s way cheaper just to buy sticks. However I built mine over a year ago made them 20” long. A year ago you couldn’t get 20” sticks. Now they are all the rage. I was cool and didn’t even know it.

I built an EWO stick with a cam cleat specifically for one sticking.
I was reluctant to put a cam cleat on a beast stick because it would make it harder to re sell.
When you make your own you can build it exactly the way you want. It can be made for a 200 pound hunter or a 300 pound hunter.
And it is a simple DIY project that is fun. And yes it is more expensive.
