Eastern Woods Outdoors OCB strap clearance

Just got a reply from EWO.

"Sorry, we are actively testing buckles here and working with our supplier to see what might have happened. The few we've tested so far appear to still work correctly, but the dimensions have changed. We've been using the same supplier for years, waiting to hear back from them and get some replacements on the way. We apologize that we didn't notice they were different - seems like not all were affected but we're still going through our inventory. Stay tuned for another update on this matter with more information."

Well, they sent another buckle. It looks exactly the same. I'm starting to think people are just using these without noticing the rubbing of the strap and hook. There's plenty of space after it's cammed over, but it hits during the camming.

Well, I have to say, Eastern Woods Outdoors will definitely work with you to solve an issue. I sent them the pics of the buckles being the same and also a new pic showing it partially cammed open with the strap putting pressure on the strap hook. This was their response:

"Man we apologize for the inconvenience! We spoke with our supplier and they say they haven’t changed anything. Yet we just found some older OCB hooks without the coating. The bar is longer there. So I’m sending out that hook with a stealth strip for you as the hook is bare metal there. We’re working with our suppliers and potentially now looking for a new one as these guys just aren’t being upfront with us. Again, sorry for any inconvenience but we’ll have a working buckle sent your way this week."

I haven’t checked in on this one for a while. Glad you are finally getting an answer. I ordered a sewn and non sewn for backups right before season, I’m going to have to go check them out now. Nice work having a questioning attitude and bringing to light an issue that no one was tracking yet!

Maybe this less than ideal version will go on clearance…. You have renewed my hope lol

Success!! I received the new (old version) buckle. It works perfectly. You can't even hardly notice a difference between the two unless you try buckling it. I think there's only maybe an eighth of an inch difference, but it definitely works. Make sure to ask for the old style buckle if you order one. The new style will work, but it makes camming it over more difficult and wears the strap and hook coating off.
