Eastern Woods Outdoors Q&A

If JibberJabber gonna be using it webman better switch from a box to a canyon......

Angled double step is my preference, straight scout is better than angled. Wish the ropes were spliced not sewn and a larger squirrel step was offered. I hate sticks that don’t stack straight a redesigned double step that would allow this would be AWESOME! Make a climbing platform!!! I spent hundreds on DanO’s stuff and his customer service is awesome. Thanks!

1 step vs 2 step vs 3 step aider: For use with multiple climbing sticks, single aider with same stride as stick (17” step to step on stick=17” aider). This constancy makes it easier to climb down IMO.

I’m going to give one-sticking and rappelling a go this next season. When I ordered my EWO ultimate one-stick, I ordered a 2 step aider with 20” spacing. After receiving my stick and trying it out a few times, I realize 20” is about the extent of my ninja skills and flexibility. I chose a 2 Step aider because I didn’t put a whole lot of thought into it beforehand to be honest. My caveman thought process came out and sorta went along the lines of - “max height, fewer steps, less bulk” and I just started punching options into the website. I think this will work out pretty well for me early season, but I sure wouldn’t mind having another bottom step with a different aider combo that I could swap out for late season when the clothing layers start to add up. May add that to my next EWO order.

Angled vs straight double steps: I’ve used and still own both. I prefer angled so if the stick isn’t perfectly straight on the tree, both steps are at least parallel to the ground or better. I don’t really care to have steps pointed down.

Stick length: I too wouldn’t mind having a 16.64” stick for the same reasons. When can we expect this as an option from EWO? legitimate laugh out loud on that one. Wife wasn’t impressed when I woke her up, nor did she understand the humor in it when I read it back to her. Oh well... moving on

Has there been any discussion of a "3 items ship free" strategy. Website would add a little *3 ship free* sticker on eligible items, in theory these would fit in one of the padded envelopes.
I often bail on small items, to wait for 3 local guys to go in on a order or change my mind all together.
Example: molle pouch, hero clip, delta link.

I bet there would be a surprising amount of customers = add 2 more items rather than pay $12.99 on current flat rate shipping.
( i stole this idea from rogue fitness, who may have ended this offer due to rampant shipping costs)
Im a sucker for a coupon.

I'm sure @DanO would love to be able to reduce shipping costs. Ultimately though, nothing really ships for free. The customer base always pays for it one way or another. My understanding is orders kept getting lost in the mail when the whole covid thing started to strain the carriers, so EWO switched providers. Higher minimum shipping for small orders, but also no $500 sticks that disappear into the aether.

Alright guys. I'm getting swamped with questions about the new U.P. platform and the new accessories for Tethrd One sticks. Here's the lowdown.

You can buy the U.P. separately or in combination with an ultimate one stick. If you already have an order with EWO for an ultimate one stick with a scout and would like to upgrade to the UP, there is also an option to have that added on. If you use the search function and query "platform" the options will all come up.

Dano has an amsteel aider for the Tethrd One Stick on the site as well. Search bar will turn it up. Same goes for the amsteel replacement ropes he offers which are a bit less "puffy" and go through the slots on the button better and also come with an elastic keeper loop to help keep everything organized.

So are the 6mm hitch cords 20in or 21in? Desc. under the hitch cord shows 20in, but under the tether combo it says 21in and links the same cord.

I just checked both listings and they show 20" - its possible one said 21" right before I changed it this morning. :sunglasses:
I will add that the next batch with be 21". We pre-tie the kit in a Schwabisch hitch which is nice and snug with no long tails, but its harder to tie so 21" will just be a little easier.

Just a quick head's-up, the EWO site has been having technical problems all morning. I believe DanO is going to be shutting it down for a half hour or so to try and get to the root of the issues. Hoping to get it back up and fully functional soon.

That would explain why I could not see the ultralight climbing stick or wire rope aiders this morning when I went to order. I saw them a few days back (before my stimulus came in).

I thought for sure it was the saddle effect and he was sold out. I ended up ordering different sticks, but will be ordering the wire rope aiders from him when the site gets sorted.

I’m listening to HS Baseball on the radio.....I’ll check this out later and report back. Because I KNOW how much weight my opinion carries.....
