Easy to make trail markers that work great.

The gps app I have on my phone works alright but it is pretty normal not to have service and it's not very accurate..... It'll get u in the ballpark...I downloaded onx once but could never get it to work right plus I didn't want to buy it...I use a freebie

Reflective guy line for tents. No need for tape of any kind. Stuff is smaller diameter than para too so would pack a little smaller.

also, I had the childish desire to follow you to where you hunt, take your trail markers and then kill a deer in your spot. It’s my auto response to the amount of trail markers in our public woods.

great idea though, might make up a pile!

I just reposition the trail markers I find. Give someone an adventure on their way out!

i went ahead and ordered the reflective cord i linked earlier, will have a bunch extra if anyone wants some since it comes in 100'.

This is something that I've never thought about before since I typically hunt relatively small private land but this did get me thinking. Unless within an easy drag to the barn, I'll find my kill then leave it there to walk back and get my cart. Since I'm hunting some new spots and know I'll leave it to get a cart, marking the trail or at least where it's laying makes alot of sense.

I do like the reflective tent rope idea as it's small, cheap and easily packable.

in one of the places i hunt someone literally put a ring of blaze orange spraypaint around every single tree lining both sides of a very obvious "deer" trail. when i say every tree, i mean every single one, they're all a few feet from each other. guy must have used multiple cans of spraypaint. it's a bit much.

this is a pretty cool idea, i think i'm going to order https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B..._title_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A27YEJ4VVXHXHY and have way more than i need.
tested this cord, works pretty well with the headlamp.very timely, because my POS phone died (battery goes from ~45 to 0) as i just started the walk out, and had to navigate using just my compass in the dark. not a huge deal, but glad i've practiced that type of thing quite a bit during the day (don't trust your electronics only! they can break/go dead)! i'll be spending some time tonight making a bunch of these to avoid that type of headache again.

Did you go 4mm or 1.8?

I still like a package of Kleenex. Just press in onto a twig. If you miss some on the way out, it will be gone in a couple nights. Really shows up w/a light or in daylight.

I use onX maps and I have no issue with it working. But yes cell service is spotty at best most times. Thats why I use the onX function offline maps, Just turn my phone to airplane mode and the only thing that works is the gps function of the phone and the offline maps gets to within 3 feet form my stand location every time but i do like the idea of hanging a bright cord as a secondary marker and for trailing blood. Lots of creative ideas on the forum

I have bad luck with phones and break them all too regularly....I just get cheapo 40-80 dollars phones and the onx and huntstand never worked correctly even sitting in my living room 5ft from the wifi....
Shoot....the phone I'm using right now doesn't work to make calls...the dunk in the water yesterday did it in...got another cheapo on the way

If u gonna carry a wiretap/location device may as well make it the worst quality for big brother.... hahaha

These are made from 15” bright yellow Paracord with a loop tied in. The tag end that hangs down is wrapped in reflective Tenacious Tape (originally found at Walmart but I don’t think they carry it anymore). I keep them on a carabiner or S-binder attached to my saddle as I walk in. Place them as I go to find my way back to my vehicle or hang them as I’m Trailing blood. They’ll pick up any light from a surprisingly long way off including the dim red of my headlamp.

One of the things I like is that they’re visible from 360 unlike tacks or flat sided markers. Just hang them on a branch or girth hitch it around one.

That’s a great idea. Helped another hunter drag a deer out a few days ago and I was amazed at how bright his ropes were. Only thing I would want to change is the yellow to brown or gray….Others might see it in the dark, but I’m not looking to show everyone else the way to where I hunt during the day. That may just be a public vs private thing.

I got the 1.8 in yellow and made about two-three dozen of these last night. I like the orange clip/flag addition for daytime visibility but I'm more concerned with night, and didn't think the diameter difference would be that big of a deal in a non weight bearing use

Picked up a roll of reflective paracord from amazon.....really pops under a red light.
