EDC Knife

I was issued a Benchmade out the front (OTF) automatic blade. It sits in the box. I have a leatherman I use daily and it gets punished. Hahaha.
I remember this about Benchmade.

I don't see an issue with the destruction of the firearms, they assisted law enforcement in carrying out their legal duties. The political support could be more worrisome, but depending on who the other options were in the race, they may still have been backing the best candidate for that particular election cycle for outdoorsmens interests.

I was gifted this Benchmade way back in ‘07 by my Team Leader in AFG. I’ve carried it everyday since, can’t remember the model number but last I checked they still make this knife. It’s small, thin, lightweight and once convinced a crackhead that trying to rob me at the gas pump was a bad idea. It needs to be sharpened because my youngest son decided he wanted to stab cardboard in the basement when dad wasn’t paying attention...
Thank you for your service. AFG, wow man. That place is nuts. Thank you.

Any thing from these guys is tough stuff. Make a lot of the Genuine Issue Knives for the Military. I was hoping they still made the steel sided US GI jackknife-camp knife. I have one and its pretty much bomb proof but their newer folders look decent too and not bad pricing. You may be able to get better pricing from SMKW or something like that.

Thanks for the recommendation, pretty decently priced and that Shikra looks sweet.

Update on my broken knife. Sent it in to Buck and for $10 they sent back what was essentially a new knife. They replaced the blade, cleaned it up, and replaced a screw that was missing on the clip. It took a couple months for them to send it back, but I am happy with the result.

I’ve enjoyed the bucks knives I own, but my Esee Izula II is my EDC and I love it.

That looks like a nice knife, the blade shape is almost identical to my Buck, I like having a folder with two youngsters in the house though. On the off chance that it isn't in my pocket and one of them grabs it, to me it's safer.

Benchmades are nice but too expensive for me. I currently have a Kershaw that I like quite a bit. Can't remember the model but their quality seems good.

I’ve owned plenty of pocket knives over the years and some pretty good tacticool ones while I was on active but I’ve exclusively carried a leather man skeletool for the last ten years. I’ve found way more functionality out of it than just a knife and it’s really isn’t that much thicker. Leather man has a top notch warranty, every single one I’ve sent in for warranty repair they’ve just sent me a new skeletool. Matter of fact when I was overseas I had two skeletools I cobbled into one since that’s about all the functionality they had between the two. When I got back stateside I reached out to leather man to see how much it would cost to repair it, they said send it in we’ll take a look. A week later I got a brand new one in the mail with a hand written note “thank you for your service.” It’s not the fact they sent me a new one, it’s that they take care of the customer, no messing about.
