I heated up the sides with a heat gun & closed it & it kinda melted into place. Just enough to make it easier to open
 
Mark the aluminum and dremmel. I dremeled the aluminum not the cap. Seemed to be either a washer or a casting/machining issue. Both mine had it, but were different as to where they hit.
