Electrical Conduit Rope Push Pole SRT/RADS Video

Sure. If I want to climb on trees with branches, I throw a throwbag over a limb and pull myself up.
Not trying to poop poop how u are climbing.... just wondering and asking some questions...

So u take the poles with u and if it's a limbless tree u put the poles together and do like in your video and if there are limbs u throw a line up in the tree......how are u doing this in the dark? Throwing a line over a branch in the dark seems next to impossible since I have a difficult time with that in the daytime.....and if u poleing in the dark that is something u practice and it isnt difficult and makings unwanted noise

Again...not trying to be negative....I just trying to understand....to me this method looks to have more cons than pros

I thought about setting my platform on the way up and doing what you said. Never tried it but I may now. Thanks for suggesting it. I would use a tether anyway since my climbing rope would not be saving me from suddenly meeting the ground if the platform slipped.

At this point you might as well use a hand climber seat. Stand on seat, push rope up with a 6’ pole. Go up until you can’t go anymore and then push the rope up again.

I understand. I have not done this in the dark so I don't know how it would work. If I was going in in the dark I think I would preset some trees with reflective paracord. That should be easy to find in the dark with a flashlight. No wait, that would scare the deer. I don't know if you'll ever find a perfect method. This worked for me last year but I went in around 9:00AM. At least I made a video showing my imperfect method. :D

Sounds like another good method. Show us a video. :D

I know there are a nearly infinite number of ways to climb a tree. None are perfect. My method is just another inexpensive way to get the rope up the tree so I can use SRT/RADS, a method that I am comfortable using. If people don't want to climb SRT then this method is obviously not for them.

I was thinking, I have to try @always89y 's method of throwing a loop of rope up the tree. Going to the park soon.

I think the conduit is a viable option for sure.

The "throw" is all in the wrist and release. Takes practice and timing. Your basically letting the weight of the rope behind the tree carry it up past the extent of flipping. Right before the rope in back touches the tree after flip, you slightly toss up the front and release, at the ready to pull it tight. I'm getting 15ft on the ground toss and 10ft on the second toss, letting me only move the tether twice before final adjustments on the platform.

If theres branches, it's back to the tether shimmy!

I went to the park and tried to throw a rope up the tree. Maybe I need more practice but I was not successful in getting the rope much higher than 8 feet.

Heavy underbrush also screes this up

Are you actually using this while hunting? Maybe I need stiffer rope. I should try Viagra or Bluewater assault line. :D

So here’s a couple of ideas built on using a pole:

-put a “climbing rated” hook on the end of the pole and use the pole to hook a branch, then SRT up. My only concern would be the hook popping off so perhaps it would need a spring loaded gate. Starting to sound an but cumbersome.

-have some sort of hook or platform on the end that allows you to set your throw ball on the end of the pole, then use the pole to precisely insert the throw ball over the exact branch you want, then carry on pulling your climbing rope over the branch and then doing your DRT/SRT

Good ideas. I see you like "thinking out of the box" as I do. Someone posted last year about using a painters pole to put a DRT line over a branch and with a hook on the end of the pole pulling the end down. The painter's poles I saw seemed expensive and heavy so I thought of the conduit. With the concern about noise, I banged two of these conduit piece together and it sounded like deer rattling. I wonder if I could attract a deer with this conduit? :D It's fun to experiment with new ideas.
