This thing already costs more than $5. What do you think I am, made of money? What about glueing a male connector on one end, and a female on the other. Just screw them together..
I leave everything connected at height while hunting. I leave my ascender connected so the ascender tether will back me up on my descent.. I don't find rappelling for 15 feet to be much fun.Very cool techniques. What do you do with the ascender system (foot loop and all) once you're at hunting height? When rappelling back down, why can't you lean back and walk down? Thanks for sharing.
You no like new techniques? This is America and you have the freedom to watch or not watch.Please... stop

I am going to do another video showing how I advance the rope up a tree further. I could call it "one poling" only 10 feet with each move. Hey, I just had an idea. Shorter pole with more moves. Check. 7.5 feet with each move? Carrying less stuff is always a good idea. I have to limit my climbing in the park to times when the park workers are not on the clock since they might arrest me. Last evening they were probably off drinking beer somewhere so I was safe. At the end of the video it was funny, some muslim kids stopped and asked me why I was climbing trees. I should have said I just never grew up.
I tried that last fall and was flailing around hanging from my tether while trying to push the rope further up the tree. I got about 5 feet further and gave up. I decided it wasn't worth it and just did the one setup for the rest of the season. It worked fine. Most trees I hit limbs at that point so more trouble. As I watched your video I was thinking along the lines of how would this work with 2 parallel tethers and a shorter push pole and then alternate them but it seems like that might become awkward and defeat the purpose.

I was wondering the same. Thanks for sharing these vids bj139!As I watched your video I was thinking along the lines of how would this work with 2 parallel tethers and a shorter push pole and then alternate them but it seems like that might become awkward and defeat the purpose.

It's 90 degrees hot around here. I am figuring out a better angle for my future videos.I recommend pants for your next video.

I just reread your post and realized you meant 2 standard length tethers. That should work although I would want to be able to rappel down any time so a long rope is for me.
Yes. That's pretty much what I described. Even in my video above, I could only have gotten about 3 feet higher before there were branches which I could not get around with the rope at the end of the pole.Well actually I didn’t say what length. I climb with 2 ropes, a “standard length tether” which I use either as a tether or lineman. The other rope is rappel length which I use as a tether or SRT or rappel rope.
What I was envisioning was pushing the long rope up. Doing an SRT and then hanging on the short rope while pushing the long rope up again, SRT and repeat.
But as you described, it sounds awkward at best.

I thought about setting my platform on the way up and doing what you said. Never tried it but I may now. Thanks for suggesting it. I would use a tether anyway since my climbing rope would not be saving me from suddenly meeting the ground if the platform slipped. If you use a platform like a solo scout anyways. You would not need a second tether. Just stand and push the rope up

Sure. If I want to climb on trees with branches, I throw a throwbag over a limb and pull myself up.So using the PVC pipe u are limited to trees without branches like a climber? Or am I missing something
