EWO alpaca socks

They also sell alpaca insole, around $10 a pair. I have a couple pair and they work great.
I swear feet stay drier with alpaca socks and the insoles make them even better. And the drier the feet, the less odor...another detail in an odor reduction regimen.

Well I ended up ordering 4 pairs from EWO. I figured I’d support them first and if for some odd reason they don’t work out I will try some of the other brands that were mentioned. I really don’t think I will be disappointed. I also took MNFarmHunters advice and bought a 4 pack of the people’s socks merino wool sock. I get reimbursed for cold weather gear at work and figured I’d splurge on my feet this time. I should be set for a while though. Thanks for all the replies. I’m looking forward to trying the alpaca out.

Are you asking about the socks or the insoles? I only own the Altera socks, not because I believe they are better than other brands, it's just what I bought at a show a few years ago. I've not compared them to any other brands. I do see that Altera has changed (they claim "improved") their design since I bought mine so I can't say if the new ones are better or not.
I always look at the content on any piece of clothing. Just because something is marketed as "alpaca" or "merino" or whatever doesn't always mean much. Look at the actual percentages of the content.
The new Altera have silver infused so that should help cut down on bacterial growth/odor. I don't know if the generation of mine contain silver but I do know they are pretty odor resistant. But then again, I take several precautions towards reducing boot odor and I believe it pays off. I rarely get odor busts on my access trails.

For the insoles, my 1st pair were bought at a craft show. A woman was selling alpaca sweaters and stuff and she had some insoles for $10. They seemed really flimsy and I suspected they might end up getting all bunched up in the toe box of my boot. I was wrong. They worked great. The next time I saw insoles was in a feed store. I think they were about $13. I bought another pair and I'm satisfied with them as well.
I did look for this tag that's shown on the pic in this Etsy ad. It makes me trust that it is indeed USA alpaca.

I wouldn't trust something from China that's as advertised...could be dog hair for all all we know.

Not to derail your alpaca train of thought, but if you, or any of you reading this are not hip to Darn Tough socks, you should be. I’ve worn damn near every brand of high quality socks on the market and darn tough are the best, hands down. Merino wool, many different styles, and above all else, a lifetime warranty.
Yes, I am a big fan of these. They are made somewhat locally for me too….made in VT, and I’m in MA. Although I have been curious about alpaca. I’ve read it has better warmth to weight qualities than merino. It just doesn’t seem to be as commercially available as merino wool for whatever reason
